Daniel Boone National Forest: Day 1 Hikes
One of my favorite things about our hikes at the Daniel Boone National Forest was that many were very short (less than a mile) and very scenic. The forest is renown for its many arches and on our first day there, we were able to see some pretty fantastic ones. These first two pictures were taken off the main road where a trail started. We did not take the trail but had to stop because the view of the ridge was amazing.
Sky Bridge Trail
Now this trail is 0.8 miles long and was special due to the crossing of the sky bridge which is wide but does not have gardrails. Yes, we crossed up there. On one side is a cliff while they other side is where this picture was taken from.
I did not have my youngest in a carrier so I made sure to hold his hand during this hike. I thought that the spot we took the following picture looked like an elephant trunk. We spent some time here taking pictures.
We love looking at caves and rock overhangs so it was really amazing to hike these trails.
Princess Trail
I think this was my favorite trail of the trip. The trail leads to the Princess Arch and back. It took us a minute to figure out how to get under the arch. You have to make sure you are walking on a real trail because some paths might prove to be treacherous.
We had fun climbing in the nooks and crannies. There were a couple cave like areas that I took pictures of all the boys in but since my teen is in them, I won’t be sharing them to respect his wishes.
Every spot was a great spot to take pictures whether rocks, the gorge or this downed tree.
Isn’t it amazing how rocks and trees can create some pretty sights?
One more picture! Arches are my favorite!
Chimney Top Trail
This trail ends at a lookout spot and is paved so it was very easy to walk. This was a beautiful lookout spot. We were hoping to get to that trail by the river at some point but we never did.
Hope you enjoyed these pretty sights! I will be sharing day 2 hikes next Wednesday!

These pictures are amazing!! Loving that bridge! You guys are so brave for crossing it without any guard rails present!! I got a bit dizzy just imagining it! But I know my family would be going over this bridge just the same should we ever visit this park!
Thanks for sharing!

What amazing hikes! We don’t have anything like that here I don’t think, you’d need to go into the real bush to see those kinds of rock formations!
I like your cheerful and comfortable outfit too 🙂 the yellow hoodie and earrings are fun together!
Hope that you are having a good week! Starting to get some autumn weather here at last – nice and cool in the mornings and evenings.

This is about a 5 hours drive from where we live but there are a few state parks around here with some pretty rock cliffs too just not as impressive.
