Earth Tones with Ageless Style Link Up
This month theme was chose by Cammi from Cammi’s Happy Place Blog since we celebrate Earth day in April. And there is nothing better than hiking pictures to embody that theme so I took advantage of our vacation in Eastern Kentucky to shoot the pictures for this post since I had packed a light brown tunic tee.
Daniel Boone National Forest is a great place to hike if you like short hikes with an amazing destination or view. Most hikes range from a 1/4 mile to 1 mile and end or pass a rock arch. Many also have “caves” or rock overhangs to explore. This was one of the longer hikes and went down the Red River gorge with a 3.4 mile trail and both downhill and inclines.
I took the superman pose for this picture because I ended up carrying my 3 year old for most of the way because of safety as well as the length of the trail. I wore my hiking boots to prevent slipping. We were disappointed that the trail to the bottom of the arch was closed due to a landslide but there were still some pretty sights to be seen.
For mama’s of kids under 3, I recommend the Ergo carrier: I have used it with my youngest boys and it can be worn in front, on the hip or back. When hiking with a toddler, it is still very handy. My little man here is 3 and half and I carried him comfortably for this hike. Now going uphill was exhausting but still comfortable.
I love sharing real life outfits in my blog posts: this is what I wore. Maybe not everyone wears earrings while hiking but I do like the pop of color and style they add to an otherwise utilitarian outfit. Hiking does not mean I have to look drabby.
We had snacks by this creek then it was all uphill! The boys kept asking for breaks, water and the distance still needed to hike but we made it! This hike was the Gray’s Arch trail.

What a nice neutral otufit – I like the pop of coloru from your earrings, and it looks like a wonderful hike! I agree, I got so much wear from my ergo when the kids were younger! Once I figured out how to breastfeed in it I was rarely out without it, haha! 🙂
Thanks for the link up 🙂
Hope that you are having a good week! Starting to get some autumn weather here at last – nice and cool in the mornings and evenings.

Such a great post for Earth Day. Love your hiking outfit. I saw signs for Daniel Boones National Forest while hiking. Is it in Kentucy or Tennessee?

Love the neutral here and ones I gravitate toward. What a fun hike. You have so many beautiful backdrops!

I am taking advantage of every photo opportunity! This top works really well with white too.

Wow! You are a super mom carrying your 3 year old most of the way, but safety is always first! I bet the boys devoured the snacks by the creek after burning a lot of energy off. I love the color of that tunic tee and it looks nice and breathable for the hike!

The tunic worked out pretty well. I definitely like the length with wearing leggings.

I love the hiking pics for Earth Day! I was thinking of doing something similar. Your earrings and that tee are super cute, and this sounds like a very fun day of hiking. I’m so impressed you carried your three year old most of the way! I have no upper body strength whatsoever haha. My arms get tired just doing my hair!

That’s so funny but you do have lots of hair! My upper body has definitely gotten stronger with each kid I have had!

We are headed to Kentucky and Ohio a week from tomorrow. PC’s mom lives north of Dayton and my mom is in Lexington. We never seem to have time to explore that beautiful part of the world when we visit. Such a shame because we really enjoy hiking.
You are amazing to hike with a 3 year-old on your back. That’s the equivalent of an Army rucksack!! Super woman you are. And I like your comfortable look. My hiking boots and hiking tennies are among my most comfy shoes. I like the idea of hiking in leggings. Haven’t tried that. Your tunic is super cute, too.

I hope you get to at least visit around Lexington! Have you seen the castle spa in Versailles? Will be sharing about it soon! We just walked the grounds.

What a perfect hiking outfit! And love the pop of color you added with the earrings!
The scenery is so pretty!!

The earrings made me think of the orange clay around the south!

The Superman pose is well-deserved! OMG! The hike would be tough on me most days due to my fibromyalgia, but I applaud your good health and strength. Awesomeness! It sounds like a great day! And I like your “real life” outfits.

Thanks, Daenel! It is really nice to revisit my pictures when I write my blog posts. I now need to make some photobooks!

Mireille, I love this cute little hiking outfit! And you know I wear earrings when I go hiking, too, because there is always a photo opportunity on a family hike! Your earrings were the first thing I noticed about your outfit and I totally smiled! Such fun photos, too, my friend!
