Summer Plans

Well, the day has come, the school year is now officially over and 2 months of summer vacation looms ahead! While the boys and I love having a time with really fixed schedules, we do not function well with no directions or plans so we do have some plans for the summer even if they do not include any fun trips abroad. We will have days with structured plans but also days with nothing on the agenda.

Summer Camps

For the first time, every one will be involved in some type of camp for part of the summer. My oldest is doing a month long tennis camp, the 10 year old a 3 day running camp and the 7 year old 2 3 day art camps. We tried to find something that worked with schedules, age group and interests. It is not equal time for all but such is life!

Outings

We are hoping to visit a few historic sites and maybe a couple state parks. The boys also would like to go to a water park or aquatic center. I would like to maybe go on a couple picnics on days that are not sweltering hot.

Mini Vacations

We have a trip to Arizona planned for my brother’s wedding and sadly I will not be able to meet up with my favorite blogger Jodie as she will be out of town that weekend and our hoped quick meet at the airport won’t work either as my flights changed to an earlier time. Quite disappointed about that but since my brother will be living in Arizona, who knows, maybe a meet up in the future will happen.

We also hope to go to Tybee Island for a couple of nights if we have enough hotel points this coming week to plan a trip mid month. A little time on the beach and visiting a few things in Savannah or nearby historic sites would be fun.

Relaxed Schedules

We still have bedtimes in summer but are more lax with those as well as time to get up. Breakfast time will be more fun with biscuits on the menu, crepes or pancakes. Children will be able to make their lunches with some fun stuff like chips and juice pouch (which I usually don’t buy). They will have some electronics time at the hottest part of the day, some reading time and probably a movie every other day.

The Pool and Fire pit time

Planning to take advantage of the pool most days in the am or after dinner: it really gets way too hot during the day! And of course we love to make fires and enjoy some treats too when we can!

And that is it! Our summer plans in a nutshell. Family time, fun time, rest and relaxation.

A bientôt!

Those sound like wonderful summer plans! We tend to be very laid back in the summer too and then come fall I am craving structure and routine and an end to our sloth-like ways of summer.

I know, really! Not too happy about my change in flight but hopefully there will be another occasion in the future!

Sounds like you have a wonderful summer planned, how nice and relaxing for you all! I’m hoping that things will be safter this summer so we can relax and maybe travel a little further from home (although I know it would be in Australia only as our borders will still be shut until next year they say). Who knows what the future holds though!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

I was so disappointed because at first we had a little window we thought might work at the airport but once my flight changed.. nope! Hopefully another time! We almost went Mammoth Cave National Park for spring break. Looking forward to seeing what you think about it because we might try to head there next spring. It is closer I think than where we went.
