Fab 40s: Inspired by Air
This month, the Fab 40s are sharing outfits inspired by air. I knew right away what I wanted to wear so I convinced my son to take pictures for me the same week I became part of the group. I also knew where I wanted to take my pictures, so on a Saturday morning at 9 am before it got too hot, we headed to the Indian Mounds to take my pictures.
I borrowed my friend’s pants for the week as she was going out of town because their shape make me think of floating in air. I actually am on a mission to find a pair (these are Bcik Bcik Honolulu pants) because I love the shape. They are more fitted at the waist and thighs so they do not add too much bulk there.
I usually do not pair a loose fitting top with loose fitting bottoms but I thought the blouse gave the outfit the right vibe. I could just float away! This Amazon high low blouse is really cute (I also have it in light pink) and I bought both when they were on sale for $10. I think they are great for a date night. The one linked is the same as mine but sold by another vendor. It is slightly see through in white and since I knew I was going to twirl around, I added a white tank underneath.
No shoes! I told my son, I kind of felt like a flower child from the 70s in this outfit twirling at the top of the largest mound. Nothing like taking pictures and knowing visitors can see you. At least at 9 am there was only 2 other people.
I was actually hoping for an overcast day but no, it was beautiful without a cloud in the sky so we do have some of my son’s shadows in the pictures! We are amateur photorgraphers!
This picture was taken near the edge at the top of the mound. You don’t realize how high you are in this picture. It is 67 feet tall. I wore some silver accessories which I do not wear often enough.
I love these types of themes where we can all be creative and decide how we are going to interpret in this case one word: AIR.
In this picture you can really see how dramatic the top is. I wonder how it would look with a pencil skirt. I tried it on with shorts and jeans and it looks striking with both.
And now onto the other Fab 40s ladies!
Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood
Ada looks absolutely adorable in this black babydoll dress. I love all of these black accessories!
Suzy from The Grey Brunette
Envious of these pants! Wow! What a statement piece!
Shelbee from Shelbee on the edge
The colors in Shelbee’s give me all of the airy feels making me thinking of the wind and the clouds.
Daenel from Living Outside the Stacks
Each time I see one of Daenel’s photographs, I want to learn more about photography.
Her boho style is so pretty and I love the airiness of this dress and kimono.
A bientôt!

Mireille, I love this boho look on you and going barefoot was a brilliant idea! I didn’t realize these were pants at first. I thought it was a maxi skirt. But now I see they are pants and it’s even cooler! The high low top is really pretty and dramatic…very much my style, too. Your kids are doing a great job with photos, by the way! We are amateurs over here, too, but we get it done! I am looking forward to styling your theme for net month!

Thanks, Shelbee! It was such a comfortable outfit too! Looks like my oldest wants to take my pictures exclusively so I can pay him instead of giving him allowance (he would make a little more each month so I am going to use the 10 days after tennis camp and before school starts to get him to take blog pictures for August for me.

That is a great idea! I love that he is willing to be your photgrapher! Archie always grumbles at me when I ask to take my pictures. Haha

Not too bad! Just spent some time on the phone to get my tv and internet bill lowered: one phone call equals $50 savings a month. Just need to remember to do that again in 12 months when their promotions run out. I should get my own pair of those pants in red on Thursday: found a pair on ebay!

These are a lovely representation of air – both the top and pants are so swishy! I’ve not seen a pair of pants made like these. I can see why you’d like to find a pair of your own. How very cool!

I think that you did a marvelous job with your sartorial interpretation of “air”. The photos are lovely and I especially like the one of you on top of the bench (photographer’s shadow or not).

It was a lot of fun! I have been trying to do some more varied shots and the bench one was one of my favorites too.
