Gem Colors for Fall with the Ageless Style Link Up
I had grand ideas of taking my pictures gem panning in Dahlonega (the boys love to go) but when it came down to it, I just wanted to get my pictures taken for this post. While I did come up with the theme this month (I figured it would be an easier one for all), I wasn’t completely inspired with my outfit. I really liked the top part but should have gone with more constrast with the bottoms. White jeans would have been really sharp but I just posted an outfit with white jeans last Friday and I thought about a skirt or black jeans but it would have been kind of dark for a look transitioning to fall.
The outfit started with this emerald tank I found on Amazon a couple of years ago and with the colorful thrifted scarf. I wear this scarf in the fall quite a lot as it is easy to style and the colors are perfect for fall. I do not have a lot of gem colors in my closet even though I think gem colors are very becoming.
I think I should have worn different shoes. I wear wedge sneakers a lot in the fall so I decided to pull these out but I am not sure they were the best choice. I needed more of a contrast I think. I ended up switching the tank for a graphic tee later on and wore my white sneakers for the day. Interesting how mood can really affect how you feel about an outfit and pictures. This was a day where I really needed some alone and quiet time and it was not to be. I even went to Target with a giftcard in hand and Target circle 20% off and spent not a penny.
This is the first time me wearing the Dahlia pants from XCVI. With birthday money in hand and a $25 off birthday discount, I decided to go for them after looking at them for 2 years. Now I feel like I should have sized down to XS: that is the one thing about shopping online from brands you haven’t shopped for that is difficult: what size to choose? Maybe I will put them in the dryer and they will shrink. I also feel like when items are that expensive, shipping should be free! I do really like the pants but I think they are overpriced and should be about half the price.
I will be sharing them again soon showing how to style them different ways to get your cost per wear down.

It’s hard to feel pretty when you aren’t convinced you are. But, I think you look fabulous in this combination. I like how the shoes lengthen your legs, and the top with the scarf is really striking. When you’re not feeling it, though, you just don’t!
Hurray for quiet time, right?

I like the outfit ok, just could be better! The colors of the shoes and pants were close to each other but not enough for me I guess and I think I would have liked black or white bottoms for more of a contrast. Thanks for the compliment!

What a pretty top! I absolutely love that color!

Thanks, Amy!

What a great look for late summer and early fall! Love the color of your top and it pairs so well with the gray pants! I personally like how the shoes are the same color as the pants.

I think it bothered me because the shoes are beige but the pants are more olive =)

I do love gem tones especially for fall and that tank top and scarf are just perfect.

That top is such a gorgeous ‘gem’ shade and I love your earrings with it! The gray pants on the bottom goes great with it, too, keeping to focus on the top!

I know what you mean. If you are not wholly confident with the outfit… it ruins it. I have been there. Love the top.

Yes: top section love it, the bottom can be better!

What a beautiful blue on you!! And your scarf lays/lies so much prettier than mine did. I just don’t need that added bulk on my bosom!! I have ordered a couple of things from Nordstrom lately that are out of my price point. Haven’t worn the first item yet as it has been too hot but hope I will get lots of wear out of the 2 piece knit skirt set. The second item is a dress that might turn out to be too clingy. Especially when you factor in the price. I appreciate your honesty about the price of your pants. Glad you had birthday money and a gift card.

I ended up putting aside 3 to 4 infinity scarfs to donate. I did keep this one! I think sometimes the material and colors make a difference. I am not small chested either but some work better than others.

I love this color and I think the contrast with the tan pants is nice. It’s not a huge contrast, but much more so than say, black. Sometimes I think we are overly critical of ourselves (at least I am at times).
Don’t forget if the pants are too large, sometimes they can be altered. I know it’s extra money, but most times it’s money well spent!!!

I may see about having them taken it a little at the waist. I do think sometimes we all get a little too critical about ourselves.

I love the colours in this outfit – the scarf and top are so nice togehter! it’s a shame your day and otufit didn’t turn out like you wanted it too though. I like how you said you changed up your outfit – it’s good we can do that so easily, it can be a real mood booster! 🙂
Hope you had a great weekend 🙂 We had so much fun at the Lego exhibition at the museum yesterday.

I love that scarf! It was such a surprise find at a yard sale too.

I love this outfit! The teal tank and beautiful scarf are so becoming, and I think your pants are a fine contrast. I understand that feeling of needing some alone time. Everything gets on your last nerve. But you nailed this look!

Thanks, Michelle! I reach those points pretty often so I have been trying to head to my room to read or leave the house to walk or shop a couple times a week.
