Inspired by… Fall Looks: October Sunday Showcase 2021 and Link Up
Welcome to the Sunday Showcase! Once again, Grace from Graceful Rags is joining me while Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood spends some time with family. She will be back for the November Showcase. This month’s theme is Fall Looks Inspired by! Today, I am showing how to transition a very summery piece of clothing (a white sundress) to a fall look and was inspired to put together this look by an outfit Jacqui from Mummabstylish shared in a post a couple of months ago.
I love how my son is flexible about taking pictures. We can usually be done with blog pictures in 10 minutes or less so knowing that we had some time between me picking him up from school and going to his haircut appointment, I texted him my plans to take pictures downtown. His school is walking distance from the center of town and there are many pretty brick walls and building to use as backdrops.
As soon as I saw this outfit on Jacqui, I knew I wanted to replicate it by shopping my closet. I plan to wear it one Sunday morning when the weather stays cooler. My one faux leather jacket is this taupe/blush color (I have no idea the exact color) and was a JCPenney find years ago and I like the longer sleeves on it. It makes it cozy when it is chilly. I have worn it more now that I blog and it was not a very expensive investment. If I remember correctly, I paid around $30 to $40 for it.
The booties, I found at Target last year and find that they pair well with skirts/dresses and pants alike. These were the color that was the most similar to my jacket. I tried several of my belts before settling on this darker one.
I never thought I would wear this white dress this much! I really bought it originally for a Sunday showcase since I wanted a longer white dress to share and have worn it so many times since then: alone, with tees over it, with or without a belt… So glad it wasn’t busy when we took these pictures: I continue to be self conscious when we are out and about taking pictures of me in an outfit!
I am going to have to pick up another couple pairs of cheap sunglasses: lately I am losing track of sunglasses and readers. I ordered a couple of readers with blue light from Peepers so I can keep a pair in my purse: I am really having trouble reading anything close up!
I know many people love the summer but it is actually my least favorite season as far as weather goes. It is hot and humid and there are bugs! Give me fall, spring and winter! I am so happy it is starting to feel like fall here and morning and evenings have gotten cooler. I am actually writing this post with a blanket on my lap outside at 8 PM! I just have to sigh a happy sigh as I can enjoy my morning coffee, my lunch and even dinner outside.
Because it won’t get really cold for a while, I try to wear light layers like scarves and kimonos. A light jacket or sweater is perfect for the first hours in the morning and late afternoon/early evening. I always find it interesting how everyone’s seasons are so different but I guess that comes with living in a very large country.

What a great way to style this dress for fall! I love the taupe jacket and boots with it! New sunglasses are always fun! I can’t loose mine, they are prescription and the only prescription sunglasses I have. Should probably get another pair but they are so expensive!
Your son is so good at taking pictures! These are all fantastic shots!
Thanks for hosting the linkup!

Thankfully I only spend $10-15 on mine. I did find mine so I will hold off. Will pass on the compliments to my son.

I absolutely love your outfit, Mireille! Your recreation is perfect, and I like the lighter taupe colors in your look. That jacket is so cute and what a steal. I need a versatile white dress like this one! This is such a great way to transition it to colder weather. And how nice to have your son to take your pictures – I have been blogging for more than five years and I still get sheepish about taking photos in public too. Great post!

I really did not think I would wear the dress that much because it is such a loose fit. But adding layers or a belt has made it super versatile.

Mireille, I really love this dress styled for fall. It looks amazing! And the taupe jacket and booties are so perfect for fall vibes. Summer is kind of my least favorite season as well because of bugs and humidity! Although winter might win least favorite season status soon because I get so darn cold. I love these pictures in town with all the cute buildings!

This is such a cute fall look! I love your dress belted and pairing it with the taupe jacket and booties is the perfect way to take it into fall. I like urban locations for my photos too but am always self conscious when other people are around too. Thank you for the linkup!

There are so many cool brick and other textured walls that I should take advantage of in town.

I love that you were inspired by another blogger to creatively shop your closet for a unique look all your own! The neutral taupes with white are beautiful together. These are such nice shots of you-your son is getting very good at photography! Hope you have a good week and thanks for the inspiring link up party!

It’s great how a white dress you got to style for one of our Sunday Showcases is getting so much closet wear and I loved when I saw your take on JACQUI’s look when you first posted it on Instagram. The color of that jacket is fabulous! Your son is doing a great job taking blog photos too and I too am self-conscious especially when I go to take photos with JEN – 2 bloggers strutting their stuff in the middle of the city lol. But yeah Fall is my favorite season!

I am so glad you came up with that theme and I bought a new dress: I have worn it so much!
