Savoy Car Museum
A few weeks ago, we decided to visit a new car museum that opened in the area as it was a cold Saturday afternoon. The Savoy Car Museum opened in December and displays an assortment of automobiles and works of art. It is located between Chattanooga and Atlanta just of off I75 in Cartersville. According to the website, the exhibits will change which I think is a great idea since these focused on a few eras and we were disappointed not to see some other time periods.
This rusted 1954 Plymouth Savoy was discovered on the grounds during construction.
The current exhibits include American Racing, the Great American Classics, Woodies (station wagon woodies), Orphans and the Savoy Collection.
The race cars were definitely pretty fun to look at and I pointed out the fire extinguishers and safety measures in the cars.
The#43 from the cartoon Cars was very recognizable.
It is nice to have reading boys as they can read all of the signs or at least the ones they are interested in.
Adult tickets (13 and older) were $15 and children 3 to 12 were $5. We enjoyed the visit and comtemplated getting a year membership but not knowing when the exhibits would change, we were not sure that we would visit again within a year’s time.
This strange 3 wheeled car was part of the orphan exhibit. 4 adults could sit in the front seat! It is a 1948 Davis Divan and was never in production as the company had financial problems.
These were my favorites: the colors, the details, the elegance of the cars were striking.
A bientôt!

We tend to check out auso museums whenever we are near one since both my oldest son and husband are big “car guys.” My other two tolerate the experience. LOL.

That’s funny! We maybe have been to one other one. But we enjoy seeing the old cars on the road too.

That rusted Savoy is a work of art. Like a sculpture. Have never heard of a Savoy before. Will look it up. And what a crazy 3 wheeler with the large 4-adult front seat. Think of all the front seat drivers you’d have! The way I drive everyone would be grabbing the wheel.
That very old car in the second to last photo reminds me of a Hot Wheels I had as a little girl. It was one of my favorites. Used to play ‘cars’ with my brother. Great capture of the front of the car in your last photo, too. I like seeing your reflection there!!

My reflection? Now I have to look back at that pictures. The rusty car was pretty cool. I used to play cars with my brother too! My boys love theirs too. They have a couple hundreds!

Oh, I can see how the boys would love this Mireille. It’s totally something we would spend a day at too.

I love old cars! The ones from the 50s are so full of flair! But, that one car…was it a Duesenberg? We used to live near the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum and would visit to see all of the gorgeous (and outrageously expensive) cars! Actually, I love any car with style! But, don’t ask me anything about what is under the hood…because I’m just a shallow car girl! I only like the pretty stuff! Thanks for sharing this trips!

My husband would love this museum. If you’re ever in Nashville, I think you’d enjoy the Lane Motor Museum. https://www.lanemotormuseum.org/

I find car museums quite fascinating, there is a very good one in England called Beaulieu and a BMW car museum in Munich. Thanks for linking at #WowOnWednesday Mireille

Car museums are great fun. Wonderful photos and I love the 3 seater cars. Woodies are one my favorite classic vehilcles.
