Savoy Car Museum

A few weeks ago, we decided to visit a new car museum that opened in the area as it was a cold Saturday afternoon. The Savoy Car Museum opened in December and displays an assortment of automobiles and works of art. It is located between Chattanooga and Atlanta just of off I75 in Cartersville. According to the website, the exhibits will change which I think is a great idea since these focused on a few eras and we were disappointed not to see some other time periods.

This rusted 1954 Plymouth Savoy was discovered on the grounds during construction.

The current exhibits include American Racing, the Great American Classics, Woodies (station wagon woodies), Orphans and the Savoy Collection.

The race cars were definitely pretty fun to look at and I pointed out the fire extinguishers and safety measures in the cars.

The#43 from the cartoon Cars was very recognizable.

It is nice to have reading boys as they can read all of the signs or at least the ones they are interested in.

Adult tickets (13 and older) were $15 and children 3 to 12 were $5. We enjoyed the visit and comtemplated getting a year membership but not knowing when the exhibits would change, we were not sure that we would visit again within a year’s time.

This strange 3 wheeled car was part of the orphan exhibit. 4 adults could sit in the front seat! It is a 1948 Davis Divan and was never in production as the company had financial problems.

These were my favorites: the colors, the details, the elegance of the cars were striking.

A bientôt!
