Hiking Outfit: Stylish and Comfortable
We have been taking what I call a hiking or nature vacation once a year for the past few years typically during spring break and this year we headed to a cabin near Townsend, TN which is minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountains. I will be sharing several posts about our hikes and adventures but today, I wanted to share one of my hiking outfits. I will be sharing a recap of all of my outfits in a couple of weeks but today, I am sharing my formula for a stylish but comfortable hiking outfit.
I was pretty pleased with what I packed (practice makes perfect) and I packed several joggers, tshirts and sweatshirts. I also made sure to bring a good windbreaker as the temperature varied from day to day and there was rain in the forecast.
I find joggers much more stylish than sweatpants or leggings (I did wear leggings on a colder day) and I find that a colorful top or sweatshirt instantly adds style to an athleisure outfit. I usually wear trail shoes for rugged hikes but on this particular hike, the path was paved so these fun colorful sneakers were perfect.
Dressing in layers is important as temperatures change from shade to sun or change during the day. On this day, we were definitely well prepared and I was able to put the boys’ extra layer in our food backpack cooler when they shed it. Style does not need to be high end or expensive… I spent $3 on this sweatshirt at Kohls on clearance and with a $5 Kohls cash.
I took this picture back at our cabin: finding a place on the river was really worth it and I hope to book this place again next year! Do you forget about style when hiking or do you try to put together a fun outfit? It probably makes a difference that I know I will be taking pictures but I do know I feel better when I have a fun outfit put together.
Come back on Wednesday to see more about this waterfall and hike: it was a beautiful hike!

I also want to look nice when we go for a walk or cycling. But most of the time I chose comfortable and warm instead. Love the sneakers, very summery!

You will see in my outfit recap how sometimes the warm jacket just covered the cute tshirts!

I definitely try to pull together a fun outfit; jewelry included. My family teases me because I try to match my hiking shoes to the color in my outfit too.

I am the same way!

If I’m walking for exercise, I’m more about comfort regarding temperature and fit. I do remember trying to get to the top of Clingman’s Dome and couldn’t believe the difference in temperatures! I usually buy my athleisure at Old Navy because I’ve found it wears just as well as the other higher priced places.

Temperatures definitely changed a lot last week!

I think just adding in colorful items like that sweatshirt makes such a huge difference.
Wonderful look and you’re right…practice makes perfect knowing what to take.

Thanks, Kathrine! I added several similar fun colored hoodies to my closet last year and reach for them all of the time.

It was pretty and easy.

I am so loving the color of this top! And how well it coordinates with the sneakers too for a stylish hiking outfit! The joggers are a great alternative to yoga pants for hiking, I need to add a pair to my closet.

I have about 4 to 5 pairs now that are on heavy rotation from these types of vacations.

Your shoes are super cute! I love the bright colors especially paired with that fun top!

Thanks, Laura! Wonder how the shoes will wash once they are very dirty. So far they have stayed decently clean in the last 18 months I have had them.

This is SO my type of vacation! reminds me of how I spend my time in Tahoe each summer. Hikes and waterfalls!

Oh Tahoe would be so beautiful!

Looks like a beautiful place! It’s always nice to get outdoors in the spring (before the summer heat arrives). Your outfit looks both comfortable and stylish. What a great deal on that sweatshirt from Kohl’s!

Yes! It is not so fun in the summer! We take short long weekends vacations typically then because the heat and humidity are not fun.

Loving this colorful hiking outfit!

I like the colourful top and shoes together! Looks cute and practical for a day of hiking 🙂 because my boys are so long any little “hikes” we do are really just easy strolls along little paths, not even rating for any hiking difficulty, so I don’t have a hiking wardrobe yet!

My 4 year old used to be on my pack but now he does well walking!
