Recap: Hiking Outfits for the Great Smoky Mountains

I packed a variety of comfortable clothes for our spring break and put together my outfits by rolling them in my packing cubes. It took less space and made getting dressed easier. I did purchase a few things on this trip and I will share those items soon. Here is a recap of what I wore and which activities we did on those days.

This is what I wore when we hiked Laurel Falls Branch except that this sweatshirt is a souvenir sweatshirt I picked up in Townsend on the way back. We spent the evening by the river and made a fire. I did not attempt to fish as I couldn’t see a single fish in the river and did not wish to get my feet wet. I have had this Fun Fun Fun tee for several years now and it is still a favorite to wear on vacation. I picked it up on Poshmark.

The boys went disc golfing on a pretty campus in Alcoa, TN which is where I took these pictures. While they played, I shopped and found a skirt (see below), these fun sneakers and a gorgeous floral wrap dress which will make its blog debut next month.

I cannot tell you how much I liked the TjMaxx in Maryville, TN. So many pretty things and a great variety: lots of pretty dresses and skirts and I made sure to exit as soon as I picked up the sneakers and skirt or I would have spent too much money!

We ended up at Parrot Mountain in Pigeon Forge instead of our friends’ church due to a carsick child so that is why I am wearing a skirt for this adventure. I turned out to be a comfortable outfit but I wish I had knotted the sweatshirt some way.

Cold day visiting Cade’s cove! I wore another pair of joggers and had a great layer with my hooded jacket. The trail shoes have been really practical on all of our hikes and since I do not hike more than 2-4 times a month, I think they will last a while.

If I wear leggings, I like to wear a longer top so I added a long tank under my light sweatshirt. We hiked Spruce Flat Fall on this day and encountered some mud. The hike was definitely more on the moderate side than the easy side on a wet day.

Finally my travel outfit on the way back: I really have never regretted these camo skinnies from Target. They are a lot of fun and fit well. I like that I can feel stylish while traveling and doing outdoor activities but still be dressed appropriately. I think shoewear can often make or break an outfit and can cause injuries while hiking so finding a fun but good pair of shoes is essential. And it was fun taking daily outfit pictures with scenic backgrounds!
