Floating into the 4th of July with the Sunday Showcase
I have been cranking out some blog posts preparing myself for a month of skirts in July with Ada but had to share this fun floaty dress I wore one day in New Orleans for our July Sunday Showcase. I picked it up in a boutique at home thinking it would be nice on hot days with or without a belt. I refrained from adding a belt and let it loose in these pictures. The only thing I will say is that it did need a slip so I stopped by Walmart to purchase one before the pictures. I thought that this garage door accross the street from our rental was a fun and different background for pictures.
We will be having a cookout with friends and family this 4th and I am not sure what I will wear. I wore this dress yesterday with a woven belt so I am thinking maybe my red statement pants and a tank? I did wear this at the beach in Mississipi but let me tell you, I am spoiled with where we go to the beach usually (on the gulf near Destin) and the beach in Mississipi couldn’t compare at all. Darker sand, darker water… It didn’t give me beach vibes!
This dress which I bought for $16, falls in my favorite summer clothing category: loose and floaty and covers the legs preventing bug bites and getting stuck to the car seats. It moves well so it would work for watching fireworks: we are hoping our neighbors put on as good of a display as last year.
I definitely feel the mumu vibes or beach vibes without a belt! Not my typical silhouette as my husband commented but I sure felt comfortable as this was one of the hotter day on our trip.
I am thinking of other ways I could wear this and I think a white knotted graphic tee over it would be very cute! Of course adding a white or denim jacket over it would give it shape too. Maybe I will try that early fall.
I have enjoyed documenting my outfits on this last trip as I thought all of my outfits were winners. This was my last one to share. Each was appropriate for the weather and our planned activities.
Happy 4th of July! I hope you will enjoy celebrating with friends and family! Stay cool and enjoy yummy food and hopefully some fireworks too. I hope we can make a fire and enjoy some s’mores as we haven’t done that in a while.
And how cute are Ada and her daughters in their matching outfits? Love it! That is one thing I haven’t done much with the boys even though I really could with color schemes!

That’s a lovely floaty dress, which must be cool to wear. I remember when I was walking around Charleston in June (a long time ago) that none of the clothes I brought from the UK were suitable. I bought two floaty dresses and they was so right for the heat.
Btw, you wouldn’t like the beach in Brighton – there’s no sand at all, it’s all stones!

Oh, yes, Charleston is the same way in June, really hot and humid!

Those are the best kinds of dresses for the hot summer Mireille. I just love the print on this one,

Thank you! I definitely like it better with a belt last Saturday and I can’t wait to try it with toppers.

Mireille, this dress is so adorable! This is totally my summer jam….long, loose, and flowy! And as much as I love mini skirt or short dress, I much prefer longer dresses and skirts in summer for the same reasons you stated. I hate that feeling of my legs sticking to seats! And the bugs are always after me, too. I hope you have a wonderful July 4th celebration! We will be cooking out with our neightbors and probably swimming in their pool today.

I am all about the length lately! The bugs still bit my toes though!

This dress looks so cool and comfortable! And it’s awesome that you can wear it loose or belted. I like your tee shirt idea too. Such a pretty color.
And that is a cool looking garage door with all the ivy surrounding it.

They sure are, aren’t they? The dress is really a good one for the beach. I might bring it in the fall with a sweater on our vacation.

There’s nothing quite like wearing a floaty dress on a warm summer day. Love this dress!
