Tulemar Resort: A Jungle Experience in Confort and Style
When we decided to stay near Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica, I looked at different hotel options on Tripadvisor. I was looking for something with pretty views, not overly expensive or inexpensive and read some reviews. After looking at options around $100-150 per night, I came upon Tulemar resort which was a little more expensive but not outragious. The price per night was around $230, the views and environment looked gorgeous and the amenities looked amazing. All of the reviews were great and once my husband saw it, he said “that was the one”. It appeared that Tulemar resort would give us a jungle experience while giving us accomodations with comfort and style.
Tulemar Resort
You saw a picture of our villa (one large bedroom with 2 queen beds, an eating area, a porch and a really nice bathroom) in my last post (here). It looked exactly like the resort’s website pictures. The view from our porch was wild and tomorrow I will share the different animals/birds we saw living in the wild around us. My first walk was truly amazing, I was smiling big and I could tell my eyes were wide with wonder taking it all in.
That first morning we walked to the Tulemar Cafe listening for and seeing some monkeys high in the trees. The views from the restaurand were breathtaking and we were blessed to see a lot of beautiful birds that first morning (a toucan, several macaws and some other colorful birds). It had rained all night long so we were glad to wake up to beautiful skies.
The Beach
From breakfast we walked down to the beach (a really steep hill coming down and a nice workout to climb back to our villa) which was small but perfect! Black sand (maybe from all of the volcanoes in Costa Rica), wild trees and rock formation. It was gorgeous. They have a drink and food service during the day which we did not take advantage of and the resort has a shuttle service that can take you from one part of the resort to another. We typically chose to walk so we could see more.
There were many signs to make you aware that animals do live in the trees and brush and we were so glad to see a sloth that day. I will share her and her baby tomorrow!
The Pools
There are 4 pools but we only saw the 2. The first one was just a very short walk from our room and we were able to see monkeys, sloths and basilisk lizards when we took a dip (I am so glad I packed my 2 new bathing suits bought specifically with this vacation in mind). The infinity pool was at the Tulemar Cafe and had views of the ocean. We did not swim in this one.
The Flora
We were also in awe of the different plants. Needless to say, we took a lot of pictures! I highly recommend this resort if you visit this area of Costa Rica. The staff was friendly and helpful and booked our tours for us, the food and service were outstanding. I loved this place enough to plan to book here if possible next year when we plan to come back with the boys. I know it will be more expensive since we will need more space but I believe it is worth every penny. This place was wonderful! Come back tomorrow to see which animals we were able to observe roaming the property. And hopefully, I can add a few videos because the sounds will let you know this is a wild place!
A bientôt!

I have never really wanted to go to Costa Rica, but you are really making me rethink that! One thing…snakes? Are there lots of snakes?

No, we only saw one tiny one on our jungle night tour. Otherwise not a single one! I am sure there are some if you were to walk around the wildest where there is no trails.

I lived in Panama for years. Haven’t returned since I left in 1988 but would like to go back as a visitor or tourist. Your photographs have reminded me of the beauty of Central America. Those black sand beaches. The exotic plants. Your resort looks like the perfect combination of luxury immersed in nature.

I lived in Mexico two years but had never been to Central America. We really loved our time there (it helped that we spoke Spanish but everyone we came accross spoke English too). It is very beautiful!

You saw a sloth? Wow! Your pics are very inspiring, it looks a wonderful place to visit. Thanks for linking!

It was such a great surprise to see the sloth mama and baby. Seeing animals in the wild is so much different than the zoo.
