What to Wear to a Fall Event with the Ageless Style Link Up

October’s theme was chosen by Cathy from My Side of 50 and was great theme where we could use our imagination: what to wear to a fall event. As a family, in the fall we enjoy going to festivals, apple orchards and pumpkin patches. Some years, we do all three, others none. This year, we have been busy with sports on the weekend so I am not sure we will have time to include any such activity. We are hoping to go to the apple orchard before the season ends though! For today’s pictures, my oldest and I went to a nearby cotton field, just a few minutes from the house. We probably should have waited about 10 minutes later as the sun was still a little high but almost ready to start setting and the lighting was not optimal for pictures as it was a little too bright.

I either wear an outfit which includes jeans for a fall activity or a dress with a denim jacket. Today, I chose one of my newer thrifted dress and paired it with my mustard jacket. Western boots are trending right now so I thought they would be a fun pair to wear. These were a special purchase years ago and are a “real” pair and have held up well.

I thought this picture was pretty cool with the geese flying. It is a little bright but I always feel like we are in a hurry to take pictures as I am imposing on my children to take them.

You can really see the pretty colors of the dress in this picture. It is really fun and much more flattering than this marroon dress that I ended up selling earlier this year. I liked that dress in theory but always felt like the color washed me out.

This new to me dress (it was new with tags) fits all the boxes for being an item that I want to keep in my closet. I reach for it frequently and want to wear it, it works for different occasions (I wore this exact outfit this Sunday) and the colors are happy and flattering. It looks great with all of my denim jackets too!

I’ve worn this dress with 2 different belts so far. I also plan to wear it with a sweater over it when it gets cold. The last picture in this post is from the first time I wore it and shows you are bright and pretty the colors are.

The cotton fields are always a fun place to take pictures. Cotton really looks strange on the plant! Here are some posts where I shared some beautiful pictures we took in the past: here, here and here. Here is one more: I want to wear that outfit soon!
