12 Days of Wintry and Festive Outfits
I thought it would be fun to share some outfits that you could wear throughout December and January for family get togethers, parties and maybe even church depending on the outfit. These are all outfits I have worn in the past few weeks and I tried to add a festive touch with either accessories or colors. I also wanted to showcase a few friends since we all have different styles, so save/bookmark this post to look back at next year so you will be ready with lots of inspiration.
Day 1 Party with a Velvet Bodysuit
I found this pretty velvet bodysuit on clearance at Old Navy the day before my husband and I went to his uncle’s retirement party in Birmingham, and I thought it would be so fun for a casual but fun look. I wasn’t sure it would fit since it was an XS but adding the scarf for a little coverage made me feel more comfortable.
My fun silver earrings always add some shine and bling when I want to dress up an outfit. I hadn’t worn my faux leather jacket in a while and I thought it paired well with the scarf colors.
The boys really loved how soft the velvet was but were not too happy to know that mommy and daddy were leaving them for several hours. Nothing like driving 2:30 hours to Birmingham, staying a couple of hours (it was so fun to hang out with family and friends in a fun setting) and driving back. I got about 5 hours of sleep before meeting my friends for a 6 mile run the following morning. Good thing it was the beginning of Christmas break so I knew I would eventually get some rest!
Day 2 Festive Colors with Jodie
Festive colors do not have to be red and green. Finding different colorful combinations add a touch of festivity to an outfit. Jodie‘s example is so pretty I had to look in my closet for something to replicate it!
I wouldn’t have thought of pairing green and purple together but it is a beautiful combination. The fun snakeskin boots are just the icing on the cake! Did you notice her fun earrings? Here is my copycat look.
Day 3 Royal Blue and Snakeskin Print
When I think of festive wintry outfits, I think of rich colors and jewelry that shines. So I decided to wear this for Saturday night church. I haven’t worn this blue Amazon top much but I do love the color so I need to come up with more ways I enjoy wearing it.
I was very tired in these pictures with no makeup so my apologies!
Day 4 Chunky Red Sweater
Red definitely screams Christmas so I just had to find a day to wear it! I don’t think I had worn it with grey before so this was a nice simple way to wear this sweater.
Day 5 So Soft Faux Fur Shrug
I wish you could feel how soft this little topper is! I found it at Ross Dress for Less when I was looking for an umbrella and thought it would be perfect for the February wedding I am going to. It makes me think of snow and just begs to be touched.
Aren’t the puffy sleeves cute? I also plan to wear it with a casual outfit on a day when I do not need long layers. Our weather has been all over the place this past month.
Day 6 Sparkly Silver Off the Shoulder
I thrifted this silver top years ago and wear it a least a couple times a year but really liked how I styled it this year. Pairing it with bootcut jeans and adding some extra sparkles with the earrings, the belt buckles and the bracelets dressed it up. My $1 yard sale scarf (at least 7 years old now) has silver thread throughout too. I used my new My Maggie Snaps to fasten it together instead of looping it twice around my neck.
I didn’t have anywhere special to go in this outfit but I visited my parents, mopped my floor and created some giant diy snowflakes and felt pretty while doing it!
Day 7 Sweater Dress and Scarf
I hadn’t worn my sweater dress yet this year and I don’t think I ever paired them with my leopard wedge sneakers so here they are! Red earrings and red scarf complete the look.
Day 8 Button Down Sweater Dress as a Duster
I decided to wear this before our weather turned really cold for a few days: that would be the time to pull out my warmest and coziest thick sweaters and layers. I have worn this sweater dress/cardigan about once a week since I got it. It’s really soft. I’ll be sharing it with better pictures in a coming blog post.
My nod to the festivities is with my jewelry: earrings and pendant in a deep red! I am wearing my SkimMe shirttail.
I recently shared this small business company on IG and you can save 20% with the code MIREILLE 20.
Day 9 Cathie’s Closet
You have may have seen Cathie in several of Jodie’s blog posts and I asked her to join me today because I have loved all of the holiday sweaters and outfits she has shared on her Instagram page. I love her dark green top and fun fur vest in this outfit. Please keep her in your prayers as she recovers from foot surgery.
Day 10 Bo
Bo looks positively festive in her 2 piece set. I would love to add that skirt to my closet. It reminds me of my cream sweater skirt I shared on Monday but for special occasions. I am sure this one will be very versatile too. Stop by her blog today where she is sharing this outfit!
Day 11 Rachel
Rachel and I met through Instagram last year and have been getting together every month or so to either hang out or thrift together. Chattanooga has some fun spots to thrift and it has been a lot of fun to shop with a friend! This outfit features all thrifted items (but the sweater) and her shoes have been catching my eye each time she wears them. She found this Franco Sarto pair on Poshmark. The red is perfect for winter and all the fun holiday get togethers. Red shoes are fun!
Day 12 Velvet Joggers and Sparkly Top
I wore this on the 26th for a sit down Christmas dinner with my parents and my family. I wanted to dress up another time to celebrate and my velvet joggers (a Kohls find from last year) are soft and comfortable. The top is from Cato’s and I usually find something there when I am looking for something particular. This time the particular combined two things: shiny sparkles and teal.
I hope you enjoyed this collection of looks. A few items were bought in December (bodysuit, soft shrug and teal top) but otherwise, I tried to think creatively with what I had in my closet.
A bientôt!

It’s fun to do some different color combos sometimes, isn’t it? Yes, that bodysuit is so soft!

Such a great roundup of outfits! My favorites are the teal + purple (I actually like this darker teal better than the bright green, though both look fab), the royal blue + snakeskin, and the eggplant + ivory fuzzy shrug.

I do love this teal… I should wear it this week and dress it down!
Joanne

Thank you, Jodie! It was fun to include you all and I wouldn’t have thought to pair my dress with that blazer without your inspiration!

A lovely and varied collection of outfits for the holiday season. I often think dressing up for the holidays is easier in the Northern Winter. Velvet is always so luxurios to wear.
mimifce
It probably is easier: I would have to find some short sleeve sequins…

That is one wonderful post, Mireille.. You’re looking great and all the outfits are lovely, but I especially love the roayl blue and snakeskin skirt, the red sweater, which is amazing, and the velvet bodysuit (I used to love those) which I think will fit you with or without the scarf.
Nice to see all the other people in the post too!

Mica Away From The Blue
Oh these are such great outfits! I of course really like the colourful ones, but I adore that purple blazer with the teal dress, what a gorgeous combination, and a great recreation of Jodie’s outfit!

That dress combo was really fun to wear!

Mireille, I think every one of your outfits is not only festive but so very chic! You don’t look at all like the mom of a son who can now drive! I especially liked the cobalt blue sweater with the snakeskin print skirt! Sheer perfection!

Thanks, Marsha but I have friends my age with kids in college or even grandkids, lol! But I do try to have fun with clothes and not age myself.

Okay, not one but two velvet pieces! Nice work. I love that bodysuit on you. I am overall impressed how many outfits you added a touch here and there with and totally transformed into casual and festive style, that’s amazing and I am totally going to be looking back on this post for next December but also just in general for the winter season. I love that red cable knit sweater, I would wear that on repeat. Also, I added Cathie on IG, thanks for the tip!

You have the BEST clothes, Mireille! I love all things velvet so that first top is simply stunning, and I need to get myself some of those black velvet joggers that you wore on the 26th (my birthday!). I love them!!
