Winter Date Night Outfit

I took advantage of my son’s “sick” day a few weeks ago to take pictures of this outfit that I knew I would pack for an overnight date trip with my husband. After our trip to Costa Rica in October, I decided that I would try my hardest to plan regular fun dates/mini trips for us as we had such a great time on our anniversary trip. For this mini trip, I knew we would go out to dinner than maybe see the lights at the botanical gardens so I planned a nice warm coat to add over this outfit.

I usually try to balance out my outfits where if I show some leg, my arms are covered or vice versa so my look is still classy. So in today’s outfit you will see that in evidence. Tall boots (these have been my favorite to dress up a look) also add warmth. I have these older Target boots in black too.

My friend Ada gave me this little purse a couple years ago and I love it on dates: it’s small and sleek and the snakeskin accent is fun. Now for the outfit itself: sometimes when I am looking for a piece of clothing in a particular color I take a little trip to Cato’s Fashion. More often than not, I will find something to my liking. I was in search for teal/turquoise and something sparkly and this top combines both!

The funny thing about both the top and skirt is that neither is my actual size but I decided to try them out to see if they would work. The top is a L and the skirt is a size 12. The skirt (Free People which I found at my local consignment shop) is a bit big at the waist but the larger size allows it to sit below the waist which makes it a little longer. Since sold several items to the consignment shop, the skirt was bought with store credit and came out free. Can’t beat that price for trying something different. I had been remarking that I had a faux leather jacket but nothing else.

I do like the silver accent detail on the top which makes it easy to accessorize. A pair of shiny silver earrings and done! I didn’t even notice the puffs on the sleeves near the cuffs till I took these pictures. A great purchase I think I will wear for a variety of occasions.

December was a great month for thrifting: I spent a total of $20 and found 5 great pieces. The Vince Camuto dress I shared here was the most expensive item if you consider that this $22 skirt was bought with store credit.

So there you have it a winter date night look!
