Rome Labyrinth
As I was looking for a few free places to visit while waiting for my oldest to take his ACT, I came across the Labyrinth of Rome. I shared pictures with the boys and they agreed that they would like to go. While the pictures online made it look larger than it was, once the boys warmed up figuratively and literally (it was a chilly morning). The labyrinth is located by the visitor center.
At first, the boys just ran around the brick path before deciding to see if they could reach the center by following the labyrinth. I love seeing their imagination at play and it was nice to see them enjoy themselves as they first were disappointed by its size.
I am hoping to take some day trips this summer to explore some areas around us we haven’t visited yet.
I love finding places which are free to visit. While we probably spend a lot more money on vacations nowadays than we use to, being thrifty when we are not allows us that luxury.
I am currently looking at houses/condos to rent for a week in Savannah when school is out. The boys only requirement was access to a pool. We will save money by prepping meals and doing many free or inexpensive activities. That will help balance out a couple restaurant dinners and outings that do cost money.
At the top of the hill, by the visitor center there were a few pieces of history: a cotton gin and a lathe machine. I am always in awe of such large machinery that helped make certain jobs easier.
Do you have plans for the summer? Apart from our vacation, we plan to visit a couple of state parks and maybe rent a pontoon on a lake nearby for a day at the lake. Otherwise, we hope to build fires, go to the pool, and spend time outdoors when the heat and mosquitoes give us a respite.
A bientĂ´t!

That looks so neat! I would have tried to find my way out (or into the center!) too. We’re planning to check out another national park this summer… but I really wish I had thought to book a place with a pool!

What a fabulous place to find Mireille. Sometimes the free things are even better and just think of the time put into this.
We were in Savannah once and had such a great time. It’s one of those places we would love to revisit someday,

You find so many wonderful places to visit! We keep talking and talking and talking about going on a vacation. So far, no plans. We like to go before schools let out for the summer and after they resume in the fall. It’s a luxury we didn’t have for all those years I taught. Thanks for sharing these photos!

Labyrinth’s are my favorite! We have one here in Orange County CA that I just love to visit. It’s always so peaceful and I get a lot of meditating done 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend!
