Open Knit Sweater 3 Ways: October Sunday Showcase
I always struggle when shopping retail: am I contributing to the fast fashion industry with my buying habits and my love of shopping? I really have tried to thrift more this year and to give myself some shopping breaks to shop my closet, but I still have shopped retail here and there. There are a few places I do not shop for clothes, the 2 top ones being TEMU (those prices sure are coming at the detriment of someone) and SheIn. Yes, I still purchase from Target, Old Navy and other places but I really have been trying to limit those excursions. Today, I am sharing a sweater I bought from Brindle Boutique this summer and the reason that I like to share several ways to wear an item is to remind you, that the clothes your purchase and own are meant to be worn. I will say I am not sure where Brindle Boutique gets their clothes and while I collaborate with them, I should ask them some questions as shipping takes a while which often means something is shipped from China. But since I have this sweater, I will be wearing it and wearing it on repeat.
Late Summer/Early Fall
Since the sweater is a fairly open knit, it is appropriate weight-wise for late summer evenings and early fall weather. I added a Halftee under it here and paired it with my white shorts and sneakers.
I am thinking this sweater will be coming to the beach with me this Thanksgiving.
Color Match
When I thrifted this maxi skirt, I knew right away, I wanted to try it with this sweater. Would it look as good as I thought it would? I was so excited to see how well they worked together!
My booties are about 8 years old from Nordstrom and to this day, I have found another low shaft pair to replace them. They have some wear and tear but not noticeable enough for me to discard them yet!
Later Fall Look
While I do not wear my skinny jeans as often anymore, I still do love them for certain outfits. My black jeans are perfect with the oversized sweater and I elongated the leg with matching booties (these are the Vivaia booties I won in a giveaway last year).
I did not add a tank under the sweater but probably would if I were out and about. I am also thinking it is time to put out my fall porch decor! I need to change out my sign and my wreath!
Apart from special occasion clothes (eg: dress for a special wedding, Christmas day attire), do you always make sure you will be able to style an item several ways?
You can use Code MIREILLE20 for 20% at Brindle Boutique.

That’s a great sweater, Mireille, and looks really good with the white shorts. Also love the late Fall look as that particular kind of blue goes very well with black.
Yes, as much as possible I try to wear things several ways. Enjoy the coming week 🙂

I think the contrast with the white and the black make the blue really pop!

Beautiful sweater on you-I love the shade of blue and openwork design! Your summer to fall outfits are inspiring, and the sweater already looks like it has lots of possibilities for mixing and matching in your wardrobe. A good buy! Enjoyed this post and thanks for sharing!

This is a gorgeous color on you, Mireille! I have really tried to focus on not shopping fast fashion though I do buy lots from Old Navy. If I wear it for several years, does that make it better? I tell myself it does. But, I’m probably just kidding myself. And, yes, if I’m buying something, usually separates, I always think of at least three ways to wear it or three things it will go with in my closet. Thanks for the link party!

I am by all means perfect and still shop at Old Navy and Target but I am really trying to limit it. I think every little bit helps.

That is such a pretty sweater and while I would wear it most like your legging photo it does look like it was made to go with that maxi skirt!

The colors did really match with the skirt!

Mireille, I adore this shade of blue on you! What a great sweater. I do love this open knit styles for the transitional weather. You have styled it beautifully all 3 ways. I really like the way the blue pops over your black jeans! I have been really limiting my retail shopping these days as well. And I refuse to shop from Shein or Temu also! I hope you have an amazing week ahead! Thanks for the link party.

Thank you, Shelbee! I really hope I will do even better next year with focusing more on thrifting.

That sweater is a gorgeous shade of blue! I have a similar but not oversized sweater from Loft that it’s going to be time to pull out soon, and pairing it with white is something I need to experiment with more. I made a purchase from Shein a couple years ago but not again, and I don’t trust Temu at all. I am also a believer in styling an item multiple ways, and I really like how you showed that here with multiple seasons.

We are on the same page, Sally!

That sweater is such a beautiful color, I especially love it paired with the black jeans! But each look is just fabulous!

That’s a beautiful sweater! The color is stunning and I love how versatile it is. I try to make sure each item I buy can be worn multiple times but I don’t always succeed!

I do not shop Shein either..to many horrible stories about how the clothes are produced. I love the bright and vibrant color of this sweater. And these are such cute ways to style it 🙂

What a pretty shade of blue. It’s very complimentary to you and as you’ve shown, the sweater is quite versatile. I also will not shop those popular online e-commerce sites but I do love my Target, ON, and Kohls. Just can’t quit those.

I hear you on the fast fashion front but I just try to be kind to myself. I thrift or buy a lot on buy and sells, but I also buy from the stores that are considered “bad” because I like to update a few trendy pieces and I have kids! Anyway, I love this sweater and how you’ve styled it. Its such a pretty and vibrant blue which makes me so happy. I love that it’s longer so pairing it with leggings is absoultely perfect!

Mica Away From The Blue
That is such a cute knit! I love the colour on you and while it looks good in all the outfits, with the matching blue of the maxi skirt is my favourite! 🙂
I’ve been buying preloved more often too – I do still buy retail now and then but I am trying not to do that with fashion items – better for the budget, the environment, and as you pointed out it’s good to know you don’t contribute to people being paid so poorly for their hard work of making the clothes. I am not perfect, but every purchase can make a difference, and like you I think focusing on thrifting more really helps in the long run! Imagine if everyone just bought half their clothing second hand what a difference that would be! 🙂
mimifce
Exactly! I think each person doing a little bit does add up.

I’m terrible for buying an item simply because I love the look of it…and often discover soon after that I haven’t got anything to go with it!!
That is a gorgeous sweater, Mireille. I love the colour!
