What to Wear to a Birthday Party with the Ageless Style.
October is Marsha’s birthday month thereby her choice of a theme for our post today. I started to think about the last time I went to an adult’s birthday party and I really couldn’t remember. The last real birthday party was my own for my 40th (years ago) and the 50th party breakfast we threw for our running friend a few weeks ago, but we all wore our running clothes for that. I think your attire depends on your personality and the occasion. I like to dress up any chance I get, so for this post I chose a fun dress that is both colorful and appropriate for any occasion.
The outfit could be made dressier with heels and sparkly earrings but for a casual backyard party, the sneakers and leather earrings would work well. Everything I am wearing is at least a couple of years old.
The length of the dress works well for church too (which is when I wore it) and the skirt of it full enough you can sit on the ground comfortably if needed too.
The color is very fun for fall. Here is the last time I wore it for the blog. Then, I wore it with a belt and a hat. I since gave away the hat that I couldn’t adjust (now I know I could have gotten some hat tape) and the earrings.
It had been a couple months since we had been to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens so this was a nice outing after church. We took our young visitor from the republic of Georgia.
I do not have a lot of purses/bags but this is one of my favorites. The leather and embroidery are beautiful and I bought this from Yenni at IdeasValyen last year. She has now rebranded her site as Valerie’s Avenue.

True! I wish I celebrated more with friends but we did throw a breakfast bash for a 50th running friend after our run a couple weeks ago: we all were wearing our sweaty running clothes but we had the best time!

What a fabulous color combination in that dress!! And on you. Funny how a lot of us selected a dress to style for a party. Like you said, this dress is perfect as a casual look with tennies or a dressier look with a little bling and some heels. That backpack bag is darling, too. I have a few purses but never take time to change them out. Need to do that more often.
