Costa Rica: the Pools

One of our favorite ways to relax on this past vacation to Costa Rica was to take advantage of the beautiful pools where we stayed. Our favorite by far was the family pool at Tulemar Resort and we spent at least 2 to 3 hours daily enjoying it the two full days we spent there.

Tulemar Resort

The resort boasts 4 pools including a pretty infinity pool by the restaurant (it was being worked on while we were there), a jungle pool (hubby and I used that one last year as it was by our room), a family and an adult pool. We did not use the adult pool, but it was very pretty too.

The family pool was a short walk down a path from our condo/house and had an eating area, an outdoor shower, a waterfall and a little kids pool. Like the adult pool, it had seating areas around it in the water to enjoy the water while sitting.

The water was so clear and one edge made it an infinity pool.

We used the pool even when it rained as long as there was no lighting. The average temperature during our stay was in the mid eighties which was perfect for pool time.

My favorite 2 bathing suits to wear were the tankini above and the white.pink one piece which were both clearance finds at TJmaxx this summer.

Arenal Resort Springs and Spa

This resort had several fresh water pools as well as some hot springs (fed by the volcano nearby). My husband and a couple kids took advantage of the hot springs, but I did not. Several pools had swim up bars so we did not enjoy those much (too many people), but we found that the perfect pool for us was a smaller one tucked away.

We declared it our personal pool and enjoyed it for hours the first day. On the second day, we staked it out until the family using it left and once again claimed it. We had to share it for a short time, but we found that we intimidated others because of our family size. The pool wasn’t large but was perfect for the boys to come up with games. The seating around the edge was like large stones.

The views from everywhere on the resort included a view of the Arenal volcano including the pools area.

Double Tree by Hilton Cariari in San Jose

We spent our last night in San Jose and spent most of the day at the hotel by the pool. By that point, I wasn’t too interested in any more excursions and felt like it would be more relaxing to just hang out instead of exploring. The boys enjoyed hours in the pool while I made lists and surfed the web.

Pictures speak louder than words: we enjoyed the pools on our stay tremendously!
