Poncho with a Belt
When I started brainstorming ideas for blog posts for February, I tried to come up with a variety of themes: trying something new with an item I have had for a while, ways to wear a particular piece, inspired by, outfit round up… My goal is to continue to inspire you to spend some time in your closet in 2024, find new ways to wear what you have and of course have a little fun here and there by adding a new piece.
This poncho is several years old and has had a staying power in my closet because it is really warm and can be paired with dresses and pants equally, the neutral colors making it more versatile and the plaid pattern is a classic.
I tried something new today: I added a belt: I have worn it with a belt before, but today I wanted to make that the focal point of the outfit: a belted look with a poncho. Can you imagine that a couple years ago, I only had 1 or 2 belts? I have thrifted several over the years and now have a nice color to add to dresses, pants and… ponchos!
To create a look that I liked, I did a search on Pinterest and pinned the looks that appealed to me the most. The common factor between all of the outfits I pinned were tall riding boots and a contrast between the color of the pants and the boots.
I settled on this pair of jeans (I almost wore my Clara Sunwoo Liquid leather pants but styled them in a recent post) and these boots. Everything I am wearing is older than a couple years and has been worn multiple times in multiple ways. The burgundy bodysuit is from Target this winter.
A bientôt!

Such a cute outfit! I bought my first pair of tall boots in the fall of 2023 and I love them. I got them for such a great price, thanks to an early black Friday deal! Have a great weekend!

I like how the overall lighter color of the poncho makes it look visually less weighty, providing lift to an outfit of otherwise dark colors!

Yes. The lighter neutrals are nice.

I do believe in the magical properties of belts, and I’m so glad you’ve found them thrifting. It’s my favorite place to get some too.
I love this poncho and the belt really gives it shape.

I like how the burgundy bodysuit is echoed in the earrings, and that color isn’t anywhere else. Love all the browns with the poncho, belt, and boots! Fabulous look!
