It’s my Birthday! Red Dress for the Win

This is what 49 looks like! I usually do not post a fashion post on a Wednesday, but since my birthday falls on a Wednesday, I thought I would share an outfit in which I felt quite good! This dress was given to me by one of my running friend Patricia (whose running story I shared here) when she did a little closet decluttering this summer. She has a great sense of style, so I was very happy to receive some of the things she was not planning to wear anymore.

I actually took these pictures at the beginning of summer after our trip to Europe as I had lost some weight and the dress fit like a glove. I was a little worried it might be too tight later on, so I took pictures the week I received it. You may notice that I am wearing a few different belts in these pictures. A small change in accessories can create slightly different outfits. I could have added more jewelry too, but I kept it simple to let the dress take center stage.

49! I am actually excited about soon becoming 50. I really have enjoyed my 40s: I have become more confident in my style, I have made great friends through blogging and running, and I have really enjoyed the town we live in. I am enjoying having older kids (well, they are not that old since they range from 6 to 18) and not having toddlers. Year 48 saw some struggles and big stressors, but also many blessings.  Getting away as a family, a couple or alone has been a very important part of me staying sane and whole.

Our anniversary weekend was a couple weekends ago and with it being my oldest’s 18th birthday, we decided to do a little overnight trip at the end of September. I am looking forward to it!

My birthday usually consists of a free birthday meal somewhere and trying to do something fun: the plan is to go have a picnic by the pool today. Maybe I will start the day with a run?
