Fall Denim Days
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to wear my lightweight sweater like tops and pair each with a pair of denim and different shoes. It’s an exercise in wearing what I have and finding new combinations that I like. I was very pleased with each outfit and it was fun to realize that a lot of my denim was thrifted. I usually do not even look at jeans when thrifting because I get overwhelmed with the quantities and having to look through sizes puts me off. But if my attention is drawn by a particular detail, I do get drawn in.
I am always drawn to fun sleeves when I am thrifting. I typically do not like button downs, so I look at sweater like tops. This was a Free People top from Uptown Cheapskate a couple of years ago. I found the wide leg jeans at the same store. They replaced a pair from Loft that kept stretching out on me. The Jambu Mary Janes are from 2019 and are about to be thrown out: I noticed that they are starting to tear up.
Again, thrifted top and jeans! As I mentioned, if I see a fun detail on denim, I might try the jeans on to see if they fit. These were just perfect! I reached for a fun pair of earrings to mirror the flowers in the jeans.
I love this crochet top but I struggle with its cropped length. I would like to wear it with a dress next! Both the top and denim were thrifted this year and really fit in with my love of boho details.
I shopped my closet and decided that olive and white would make for a pretty contrast. I love having interesting earrings in different colors. These are bows made by a local lady. I wore a tank Halftee under my crochet top for coverage.
Looks like I used the same pose and place in my yard all week long! This outfit was chosen with possible rain in mind (therefore the rain resistant booties), but the day turned out quite pretty even if somewhat overcast. I bought this top several years back in a local boutique and I have always love the pretty colorful lace sleeves. The top has a boxy fit so this time, I paired it with my slim jeans. A nice pair of earrings assured that this outfit worked for day errands to an evening at the local theater with the boys. I did end hope changing shoes to a pair of dressier cutout booties.
I just had to add this last outfit I wore the following week since it just fit the same outfit formula as these: cute embroidered thrifted sweater, fun combat boots and another pair of denim, this time an old pair of Amazon skinnies.

I love jeans and wear them a lot more than you’d think! You have a great collection and I particularly like the grey and white jeans and you’ve paired them with lovely tops too.
The trees behind you in the photos look great – they’re so nice when the leaves turn to Autumn (Fall) colours.

I’m such a sucker for embroidery too…it’s a fun way to add interest to a look without needing accessories.

I have never had a pair of embroidered jeans! I think I may need to get out my needle and floss! I always love embroidery details on just about anything!

It would be super cool if you could transform a pair yourself. I have a friend who paints on denim!

I never used to wear jeans until some friends persuaded me to try some. I found them so comfortable and now wear them most weekends.
I have been tempted to try a pair of coated jeans but am a little concerned that they might not suit a middle-aged lady. Have you ever tried any?

I love mine, I just have issues sometimes if some of them get looser throughout the day. I have not done coated jeans but I have a pair of liquid leather (faux leather by Clara Sunwoo that I was gifted) that I wear pretty regularly in the winter. I just cover my bum with those because they are more fitted. I would suggest doing something casual on top with the coated jeans and maybe with cute sneakers. I think that might be a comfortable look at first. Maybe get one pair, keep the tags and try different combos in the mirror before commiting to it.
