Styling a Plaid Ruana

I have had this plaid ruana (Target) for several years now. While I haven’t shopped at Target for clothes recently, this is one of my past purchases that was a really good one. This ruana is versatile, it is well made and it is very warm. The material used has not shown any wear and I wanted to show you some different ways to style it today. Some of these are older looks like the first one and it does feel dated, doesn’t it? Another is from last year while the last 3, I wore in December.

A blast from the past

This is a picture from November 2021. I think I still have all of the pieces from this outfit apart from the white top, but I haven’t worn my skinny jeans much and definitely not tucked in my boots recently. I did wear them in the picture below too, but I feel the take was a little more modern.

Belted ruana

This is an outfit from last February. I feel like the look is less dated with the belt and the contrasting burgundy color used as a layer under the wrap.

Modern Take

I wore the wrap a few weeks ago when we were shopping for furniture and pieces for our new game/poker room. I paired it with my embroidered flare jeans, combat boots and a turtleneck sweater.

With a skirt

For church, I just switched out the bottom half of my outfit for a thrifted ruffle skirt and my cognac boots.

Belted over a Dress

The next day, I wore the plaid ruana once again, but over my sweater dress. It was a cold weekend and I love feeling like I was wearing a cozy blanket! When I got to church, my mom and I were twinning! She was wearing a tan sweater dress too and light colored boots!
