Coastal Cool or French Simplicity

Today, I am sharing 2 outfits that I think can either fit in a coastal or French aesthetic category. The materials (linen and cotton), the colors (white, tan and navy) and patterns (florals and stripes) lend themselves to either frame of mind. I wore one outfit one week then the other the following week, but photographed both the same day. I wasn’t super pleased with the pictures (I can be overly critical sometimes with my posture, hair, facial expression), but decided they would work! This is not a professional blog, but more like a letter of fashion inspiration for my friends!!

White and Blue with Tan

These Old Navy linen pants which I am wearing in XS are new to me this year. After trying them in store, I decided on this size and style because they were wide leg without being too wide in the stomach/thigh area, a good length (I do not need to hem them) and had pockets.

I do not own boat shoes nor plan to buy any (one of this spring’s trends), but I think these slip one shoes are similar in style. I’ve been loving these as they are easy to slip on, the color is one that was missing in my closet and they were a NWT thrift find for $2.50!

One of my favorite ways to wear these styles of pants is pairing them with a tank top, but until it gets hot, I am taking advantage of the weather to wear my spring tops.

Stripes and White

Stripes… a classic print that in France is called mariniere. I’ve always had several striped shirts in my closet, from short sleeves to long sleeves. I really like the boat neck on this one and the 3/4 sleeve. It’s also fairly light which makes it easy to tuck in. I think it might have been from Amazon a few years ago.

Since I was going more with a French style here, I added a straw tote. The handle has been unraveling so I added a scarf to it last year. It’s one way to make it last longer. When you find items that are versatile, classic and comfortable like my sandals, they will last a long time in your closet. While I do occasionally add a pair of shoes in my closet, most of them are 3 to 10 years old. A few are coming apart (case in point my yellow sandals which I had to glue last year), but many are still looking good.

I’ve been drawn to my gold and silver accessories lately instead of my statement earrings. This pair boast both. You may notice this style trend of mine with more hoops and smaller earrings.

A bientôt!
