Vests for the Ageless Style Link Up
Vests… sweater ones, long ones, cropped ones, suit vests… there are many kinds of vests to choose from nowadays. For this month’s theme of vests, I chose my trench vest to feature here. I’ve worn it as a dress before as well as over a dress, jeans, and a skirt. It is very versatile and useful in the south as it gives you a layer without sleeves: a little warmth, but not too much! For today’s look, I wanted to wear it as a layered look with my button down.

I played a little with textures: liquid leather skinny pants from Clara Sunwoo, snakeskin booties and the texture from the trench vest. I tried different styling of the same outfit to see how I liked it best.

Layers are really your friend when the weather changes throughout the day: learning to dress for what is and not what you wish, keeps you from getting uncomfortable throughout the day. More than once, I have miscalculated, wishing it was cooler and then being uncomfortable while I was out and about. It is better to have the option to take off a layer.

I think I like my button down buttoned the best with this look ,and I really like how the trench has a belt to define the waist. I really do struggle here in the fall because the temperature sometimes jumps up by 30 to 40 degrees from morning to afternoon. And for some reason, I love jackets and layers, so I want to wear them whenever I can. Maybe it’s because they are that 3rd piece that complete an outfit and that you cannot wear one for half the year because it is too warm?

I will spend the months of December and January trying to wear those jackets and layers when I can. If they are in my closet, they need to be worn! This vest is great over dresses for church as some of my dresses are lightweight, so I need to remember that too! Since I bought it on clearance a couple years ago for $15, its cost per wear is pretty low already, but I do want to be a consumer that pays attention to what she buys and wears it all in a multitude of ways.

I am wearing the cutest little croissant earrings my friend Rachel gave me for my birthday!
Here are a few other ways I have worn this vest. I think I want to wear it again as a dress: I might pair it with a different bodysuit: I have a blue velvet one that would create a pretty contrast and a different pair of boots would completely change out the look.
Now let’s see what kind of vest the Ageless ladies have styled: I am looking forward to seeing the variety in styles!

I absouletly love this vest. What a great layering piece but it’s also so classy. I can see how you’ve worn it so many different ways because it’s both easy as an elevating piece and casual piece. If you live somewhere where fall is truly fall, and spring is truly spring, layers are your best friend because of the dramatic changes throughout the day. Here, this would be an inside piece only as we’ve pulled out winter coats although we’ve had a very pleasent and beautiful fall.

We definitely have a real fall and spring, some years more enjoyable than others. It does tend to be a little warm but the morning are just perfect.

You live in the perfect climate for wearing a vest. I am just the opposite of you, I’m stuck with a winter coat for 4-5 months and I have a tiny window of maybe three weeks where I can wear a vest or a cute jacket. It makes me so sad. Anyway, cute vest! I absolutely love it.

This is such a fabulous vest and the longer length makes it so fun to layer in different ways.

That is such a unique vest. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen another like it (other than yours). I love all the different ways you styled it, too!

So many styling options. You could probably wear it once a week and never repeat a look.

The trench vest is a cool style, and I love how versatile it is. Something for me to keep an eye open for, perhaps!

Yes, I love it as a layer that I can wear without overheating.
