3 Thrifted Jackets for Winter

One of my goals this winter was to find a red coat as I had donated the one I had owned for years last year. It wasn’t my style anymore as it was more of an oversized fit and I was ready to part with it. With that goal in mind, I went thrifting one day in December. I have this love for layers even though it doesn’t stay cold very long here. Yes, we do wake up with temperatures in the teens sometimes, but it usually warms up to the 30s or even 50s that same day. Of course, we do have some days that it stays cold all day. With that in mind, I was looking for a classic peacoat or trench style and I wanted something that didn’t come from Amazon.

Olive Coat (J Jill)

The first coat I found wasn’t red, but I thought it was a close second to what I wanted. I love olive, the cut and fit were perfect and the quality of the coat was really nice. It was warm with a lining and had buttons and a belt with gave it a nice fitting. Even though it wasn’t red, I bought it (I think it was around 10 dollars.

Red Coat (London Fog)

The week after I found the olive jacket,  I made a walk through the thicker coat section at the thrift store and didn’t see anything. I then walked down the skirt aisle and noticed that the lighter jackets on the right also included some coats. I decided to look at the red section and lo and behold, I saw a red coat. I tried it on and felt a little guilty about getting the olive one the week prior because I knew I was getting this one too! It was $12 and of course, not half off, but again it was in perfect shape and only needed a little lint roller. I already have worn it a few times and it will be one on repeat during the week and on Sundays this winter.

Olive Bomber (Guess)

This was an unexpected find! I was just thinking of bombers (this was on the same day I found the red coat above) and while going down the jacket section, I noticed this olive bomber. What made it really special was the fun threaded detail that goes up the sleeves and across the back. Once I tried it, I knew I was taking it home even if it wasn’t half priced. I think it was around $10.
