Dark Floral Dress: Styling it for Winter

A year and a half ago, I was influenced by Jodie to buy this fun magic dress because of the unique dark bold floral and the special sleeves that can create a different dress without adding anything to it. If you would like to see the dress as a strapless dress, a cap sleeve dress or a wrap sleeve dress, check out this post from 2024. I also wore it layered with a sweater for church early 2025 here  but I hadn’t worn it since. So I was very glad when Jodie reached out suggesting we collaborate on a post showing how to style a floral dress for winter. Since I had not worn this one in so long, I decided I would just style it several ways., but these ideas would work with any of your floral dresses. Please stop by her post to see some more inspiration!

How I wore it to Church

I took a few minutes one Saturday afternoon to brainstorm ideas that would be different than my past ones to wear this dress.   I couldn’t help but copy Jodie’s idea (be sure to check out her post here) of using the playful sleeves as a scarf! It really works well with my royal blue jacket which I hadn’t worn in a long time too. I wore this to church one Sunday and love how the bright blue compliments the bright flowers.

Casual Styling: Style Dress Like a Skirt

I’ve been trying to wear my button-downs as layering tools this winter, and I had this sweater/denim button down combo ready for wearing with pants. I realized that the color combo would be perfect with this dress! I love how it gives the outfit a completely different vibe. Making sure that the denim sleeves cover the bottom of the sweater sleeves gives it a more finished look.

Ready for an Event

I really had fun with this one! I love how my nude heels (that I only wear about once a year – bought for a wedding, I can’t wear them very long) elongate the leg and how my thrifted clutch picks up the red in the pattern. My thrifted blazer is a little tight when buttoned, so I added my fun blingy belt to add more sparkle. The golden tones match my dangly earrings. Adding just an opened blazer really lets your dress shine!

I let the sleeves hang as a tie at the back of the waist and also allowed the belt to dangle. Both the dress and the belt are from Just Beyoutiful boutique in Arizona. I love all the unique things she offers in her boutique and she does ship in the US.

Layering Under

A last outfit option would be to layer a Halftee under a dress: my favorite long sleeves ones are the lace ones (I have them in black and white), but I also just received a long sleeve plain white one which I am looking forward to wearing instead of my white bodysuit as a layering tool. You can receive 20% with code MIREILLE20 and using this link. They even have turtleneck halftees.
