A Simple Outfit for a Visit to the Biltmore Estate
We visit the Biltmore Estate at the beginning of the month as a last fun overnight trip before school was back in session. We stayed at a Hilton embassy suites in downtown Asheville which was just a few minutes for the Biltmore. I really liked the size of our rooms (we usually book two rooms) and these being suites, we had a lot of space. The two oldest typically share one room and my husband and I share a room with the two youngest. We were able to use our hotel points, so that was nice after a very spendy December. The Biltmore is also not a budget friendly place to visit, but we really did enjoy it. I shared about it in my Wednesday post.

I hadn’t really planned to take outfit blog pictures, but when you have such a pretty backdrop, you should take advantage of it. I knew that we would be walking a lot that day, between visiting the mansion and walking the grounds so I chose a pair of combat boots I have worn for years.
The weather was sunny as you can see, but cool, hovering around 50 degrees and I could have worn a warmer jacket, but this still worked. All three main pieces were thrifted in the past years. The light olive jacket is a more recent find but the pants are a couple years old while the top was found several years ago . I wanted the sleeves to peek out of the jacket, so I rolled the jacket sleeves once.

My purse is from Valerie’s Avenue (gifted last year) and I usually wear it in the winter. It is nice and large for trips. It was really sunny, so sunglasses came in handy, so I wouldn’t squint in each picture!
I’ve really enjoyed shopping my closet this month! Giving myself a shopping break is great for self control and creativity. Our weather has been all over the place, so I have dressed like it’s been all 3 seasons (no summer heat, lol), but I have tried to share the outfits that would make sense to every one on the blog.
A bientôt!

Oh yes, 50F is 10C in the UK and that’s the temperature right now so when I go out I will be wearing a long coat. For me, jackets are for much warmer weather.
I’ve just looked up the Biltmore Estate – all I can say is wow! What an estate and what a story. Fascinating and it is a really beautiful place. In do like to learn more about the States than the usual tourist traps 🙂

It’s a pretty neat place to visit once. We did visit another Vanderbilt mansion in New York years ago.

I love the ruffle hem on your sleeves and the bottom of the top!

Thanks, Jennifer: it’s a little impractical for washing dishes but perfect for a day visiting a castle!

That is such a pretty outfit. I love how the floral hem of your top peeks out from the jacket and the hem sleeve too.

Thanks, Joanne, the length does make it look cool under a layer.

The sleeves are so long, this was the ideal way to display them.

I haven’t ever been there this time of year. You look so good with the sleeves rolled up. I love an olive jacket. They just come in handy so often!

They really do. I have two thrifted ones, and bought and got rid of others over the years.

Making memories in that way are the best! I usually don’t shop in the first 2 months…… but I couldn’t resist leopard jeans. Have a great weekend.

The boys really enjoy it and they are at the age where they should all remember these trips.

How lucky you are to be able to do an overnight trip to Biltmore Estates. I’ve been there once and really want to go back but it’s an 11 hour drive for us…
Absolutely love your outfit and everything coordinates so well together. Would love a 50 degree day here in IL!! It’s been so bitterly cold!

It was definitely manageable for a 2 day trip.

The blouse looks so chic underneath the jacket! Would love to visit here someday.

Thanks, Kathrine! I need to add some places from around Georgia to visit this spring. There are some historic sites worth visiting.

Glad it is beginning to warm up for you guys. We are back in the 60s but it has been breezy. I am still wearing a jacket everywhere I go. Love the way your sleeves peek through the cuff of your jacket. So feminine. I have a blouse with poet sleeves and I always worried about the cuffs of the blouse sticking out from my jacket. But I like it!! Never been to Biltmore but always wanted to visit. Your photos are lovely, as usual.

And back to cold today again! 3 layers! It’s frustrating because I have to ask what the wind chill is, not just the temperature!

I love the boho vibe of your outfit! That top is really cute!

It really is my favorite vibe!
