Double Halftee Fun and Dress
One of the things I love about my friend Jodie and one of the reasons I mention her often on the blog is that she thinks outside the box. I sometimes wear my things in simple combinations and while that is perfectly fine, sometimes it is fun to create an outfit with a little more interest and spice. So today, I am sharing an idea that I copied from an outfit she shared on Instagram last month. We both own a number of Halftees as we have purchased some and have received some from the company, and one day, she layered two Halftees together! What a great idea!

I have two lace Halftees and I will definitely try this combo again with my black lace one and black Halftee, but decided that wearing my two white ones would make a great contrast with this new dress I bought at TJmaxx. I love the texture the lace adds to the outfit and how it pairs perfectly with this type of dress, layering without any bulk.

The dress is a thicker material, kind of suede-like so I probably will not wear it in the summer, but I think it will be perfect the rest of the year. I can layer over it as well, and of course it can be worn on its own. The caramel stitching is what prompted me to pair it with these boots. I originally thought to wear my white cowboy boots.

I wore this on Valentine’s day: we didn’t go out to eat, but had a nice family dinner. My oldest was in town for an interview and played tennis with his dad, my 15 year old had a tennis clinic and I ran an early 8 miles before 8 am. I stopped at TJmaxx to pick up a summer hat I had noticed earlier in the week, but had not picked up: I knew I would use it this summer!

My oldest came up with the idea of being our travel agent for our summer vacation. He is going to find us a rental and plan our itinerary: his pay is a plane ticket to California for Spring break since a friend invited him for a visit. We will save more than that the cost of the ticket with his research and the time/stress saved is a bonus too. I am curious to see what he will come up with. Colorado is at the top of my list.

I love how this outfit turned out! The dress was definitely a good purchase at $15 and I am looking forward to wearing it this spring! By the way, you can save 20% with code MIREILLE20 at Halftee.

Love the way you’ve styled this outfit and yes, Jodie thinks outside the box! That makes putting outfits together more fun and interesting.
That’s wonderful that your son is planning your trip to California! We have been enjoying the same benefits. Our youngest son booked our flights, hotels etc. and was our chauffeur for our recent winter holidays. Our oldest son arranged everything, including flights, AirB&B, car rental, itinery for a previous holiday. Our daughter has done the same. It feels luxurious to be taken care of with all details looked after, oh the blessings of children!!

Thank you! We’ll see how he does: he organized his and his friends’ trip to Charleston in the fall, so he has a little practice and he is pretty good at finding interesting things to do!

I used to love planning trips, but the last couple of years, not so much. I think he will do a good job of planning it.

That sure is a very pretty dress that looks great on you. And how fabulous is it that your son plays travel agent. I never like to organise trips.

For some reason I don’t enjoy the planning as much lately.

What a cute dress and it works so well with the layer underneath!

Yes, I think it will work with fitted layers under and then all my denim jackets can work as a layer over.

And that’s a great exercise for your son to plan a vacation…I think you appreciate it more when you know all of the time and energy it takes,

Oh, I think that’s a good idea…having your son plan the vacation! That’s always the toughest part for me! I’ll have to try the double Halftees with my two lace ones. Could be interesting.
