Inspired by Nancy and Monochromatic Black
In the past, Nancy (NancysFashionStyle) inspired me to wear a monochromatic black outfit which I shared in this post. Today’s first outfit was inspired by a recent blog post she shared with a pair of satin trousers and a sheer top. It was all black and bookended by fun gold boots. I immediately thought of my velvet joggers and decided it would be fun to recreate that outfit (see more about her outfit here). My second outfit started with a column of black but I chose an accent color to wear with it.
Inspired by Nancy
I liked the idea of wearing textured pants and these soft velvet joggers I picked up last year were perfect for my idea. Since I do not have gold boots, I went for a pair of peep toe booties in a contrasting color. Nancy wore a thin belt but I chose a large one and my top does have small sheer cuffs on the sleeves.
I discovered a red holiday(ish) top of mine when I was organizing my husband’s closet and I think I know what I will be wearing this coming Christmas season. I think it will look great with these pants.
I also should try dressing these down with sneakers for a fun look. By the way, my pretty gold earrings were a gift from my mom who was not wearing them anymore. They have really pretty green and burgundy accents.
Monochromatic Black with Burgundy
I wanted to make sure to wear my kimonos this fall, so this OOTD started with the kimono. I then thought my necklace and booties (from IdeasValyen) would be perfect with it.
Fall is usually the season when I tend to wear more long necklaces so I will find more occasions to wear it. It is of very nice quality and weight and really pretty.
The booties were a spur of the moment purchase when I met her for the first time this summer. I have had no regrets! The embroidery is really pretty and the booties are very comfortable. I have worn them several times and they will be a staple in my closet for years to come.
Do you wear black from head to toe? Do you add an accent color or do you shy away from black? While I do not wear black very often, I really do like it on its own or with another color. So thank you, Nancy for inspiring these outfits!
A bientôt!

Thanks, Penny! I like wearing all black but I don’t do it very often and need to come up with more outfits!

Oh I feel so honoured Mireille! It feels so good to inspire someone! And what better way then in my favourite colour black! But it looks fabulous with burgundy too. Thank you for featuring me!

Thanks, Nancy! I actually really enjoy wearing black but don’t think about it very often.

I like how you used a variety of textures in the monochromatic black outfit – that definitely gives it extra interest! Being a color-loving person, I think it’s gorgeous with the burgundy kimono!

I don’t think of textures much but I do like the interest they give to outfits.

It’s the different textures that make a monochromatic outfit really shine. I just love the velvet joggers and those embroidered boots are the bomb.

Thanks, and if I remember correctly, they were a steal at less than $20.

MireilIe, you look stunning in both of these outfits! I really love the kimono with the embroidered booties! Perfection! I don’t wear a lot of black which is funny because people always tell me I look good in it (check out today’s post)! I think it’s because I love color so much! But, a black column is always a good place to start!

Thanks, Marsha! I am about to head to your blog and I did see your black outfit on Instagram. I do like black but it typically doesn’t cross my mind until I see someone wearing it.

Thanks! I am about to head to your blog… I often forget about wearing black until I see someone else wearing it.

I love wearing head to toe black, in fact it has always been my go-to look whenever I can’t come up with anything else lol! You look fab, Mireille. But I must admit, I love seeing you in all the other colours too…the second outfit is just so you, I love it!
Big hugs

I was inspired by someone else last year to get these.

I prefer the second outfit, as the kimono makes it all sing. I rarely wear black head-to-toe – I always have a contrasting or bright colour on.
mimifce
I like it both ways!

Very cool outfit, Mireille! You look fabulous! It’s fun to take inspiration from someone else. And the kimono and booties are amazing with it. You’ve really shown how an all black looks great on it’s own and as a basis for showing off other wardrobe elements.

Mireille, I really love both of these outfits on you! Nancy’s outfit is such a great inspiration. I would kind of like to see that gorgoeus kimono paired with those luxurious velvet pants now!

That’s a great idea, Shelbee! I definitely will try that this winter.

The second outfit is more like me – I have neutral pices in myw ardrobe but I always end up adding something colourful on top! I have to make a real concious effort to try wear and outfit composed of nothing but neutrals sometimes, haha!
Thank you for joining the Weekday Wear Link up! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend.

I definitely have to thinking neutrals to wear an all neutral outfit otherwise like you, I end up adding a bright.

You both look great! I love the little variation in the shoes, but so nice that it’s still more neutral.
