Inspired by a Movie Character with the Ageless Style Link Up
When Bo chose this theme, I searched the internet for different ideas. At first, I thought of coastal chic and Diane Keaton but then I came across this picture of Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing and decided it would be an easy outfit to replicate from my closet. This outfit uses basics most of us have in our closets, white sneakers, belt, denim shorts and tank tops so anyone can create it. Of course, short length might change as well as the style of tank top.
I knew I could take the pictures on a nearby bridge, so as soon as I got back from vacation, we went out to take some pictures. My tank is an old tank from Target, I like the high neck style and it is a good basic layering tool. I have it in 3 other colors.
It was a bright morning so we had to play around with taking the pictures. Everything in this outfit is several years old and inexpensive. I replace white tanks more often than my colored ones which I wear less often.
I lost a cheap pair of sunglasses last week while on the lake and I replaced them with this pair from Aldi. You cannot beat the price tag of $5.99 especially that they replace the pair I wear when running, walking, etc.
I did wear this outfit the rest of the day: I ran a couple errands, got my car washed and went to the pool with the boys. I think I would typically add a little something to the outfit if I was going somewhere and I am sharing 2 examples below.
Adding a scarf adds a little something to the outfit without making it to0 warm. I probably wouldn’t be able to stand a scarf if it was past the mid 80s, but it is a fun topper instead of a pendant necklace.
Keeping with the monochrome idea, I pulled out my thrifted Nine West blazer to show how a blazer can dress up a pair of shorts. KellyAnn of this Blond Shopping Bag does this all the time.

I had this exact same outfit photo downloaded to use (as well as a coastal grandmother one of Diane Keaton!); you look adorable! I love the addition of the scarf or the blazer for just a touch of something “extra.”

I absolutely love this, Mireille! You should have carried a watermelon LOL!! Such a fabulous movie scene, that one!
The addition of the scarf really elevates the outfit too, but I agree I’d be too warm in this heat!
I hope you’re having a fabulous summer.

I never wear blazers with shorts because it is usually too hot but I do love the look!

Love it!! I knew your inspiration immediately. Well done. Even the bridge, the dance move. You got into this prompt, too. Great fun.
Love the way you elevated this look with the scarf and then that darling cropped blazer. What a stupendous color.
