Dress with a Western Kick
I am still in love with this thrifted dress and continue to reach for it on Sundays. I wanted to wear it with my cowboy boots a few weeks ago and wanted to add a couple of different details from prior wears. It’s amazing how freeing it is to weed through your closet and donate items you do not love because then you want to wear all of your things. I have found that the case with my current dress selection, most of which have been thrifted.
I have worn this dress without a belt (it has a true waist with tassel ties) and with belts. On this day, I reached for a belt I found on clearance at Target at the beginning of September for $5. The belt was a size large but because you can fasten it at any point, it works for my waist. I also added a clear rubber band so the strap would not dangle in a weird manner.
It was too warm to actually wear my thrifted “leather” jacket ($2!) but I will be wearing it with this dress when it is cold enough!
One thing I cannot seem to get rid of is jackets: I love them all! I now have several faux leather jackets, a couple blazer, some utility jackets and other layers in all colors and shapes. I really should live somewhere cooler!
The pattern is the perfect fall weather print and the defined waist is very flattering.

Very pretty dress on you, love the western styling! I also like to hold on to layering pieces like jackets since they can really change up the look of many other pieces and give you lots of layering options. Thanks for the link up and enjoy your week!

I can’t help myself with layers. I really should live a few hours north!

Love these colors together, especially for fall. That dress would be great in summer as well, as it seems very lightweight and flowy. The added belt definetly gives it dimension and the western boots are perfect!!!! You are too warm even for a leather coat and it’s way too cold here for just a leather coat. LOL. I hope you had a really fun weekend.

I was bragging on your great thrifted jackets in my Ageless Style post today and here is yet another one! With a fabulous price tag! Love this look. I am all about the southwest style. As you probably know. That dress is so pretty and looks kind of prairie or southwest without screaming it. We wandered into Cavenders this week looking for a hat for PC. Oh, my stars…the darling layers they have. Fringed jackets, cardigans and car coats with Native American prints. I was in pig heaven. Hope Santa will favor me with one of the pretty things I saw.

I just got to your blog post. The mustard denim jacket actually was not thrifted and but I think it had been on sale at Nordstrom Rack. It was a purchase influenced by Jodie. I am trying to think if I have ever been into a Cavenders store. I don’t think I have.

This is such a beautiful dress on you and the belt was a great choice with it! Hope you get to layer it properly with that jacket soon, it’s a good combination! 🙂
