Inspired by a Pair of Earrings: Colorful Combo

Sometimes, the idea for an outfit starts with a piece of clothing or a shoe, and other times it starts with an accessory such as this beaded pair of earrings. I bought a couple pairs of beaded earrings on our family vacation to Colorado and this colorful pair was the starting point of the outfit I am sharing today. Just like with my outfit a few weeks ago with my white skirt and colorful top (here), I have had both of these pieces in my closet for a while, but have never paired them together. The color combo (yellow, green and orange) is an interesting one but it works surprisingly well.

Shirt and shorts were thrifted while my purse is actually one my mom recently gave me and it is from Ivory Coast from about 55 years ago. I think it is snakeskin like the clutch she gave me. I shared that clutch in a post last year here. It finally warmed up to the usual hot and humid weather here and that is not a good thing in my book. It’s hot and sweaty here!

I really go back and forth between wearing shorts and very flowy pieces like dress and skirts. I learned with our few days in Greenville last week that my flowy pants were not my friends when it is 100 degrees with 56% humidity. I was a mess! It’s a learning curve for me every summer to decide what to wear when it is hot.

I won’t be posting this Friday: I am heading to Arizona to spend some time with my friend Jodie and I am looking forward to visiting with her and Rob.  I do have post about budgeting and my struggles on Wednesday Will I pack appropriate weather clothes for my trip? I did learn some things from last year July trip, and this past week’s trip to Greenville, SC, but I probably will regret some packing choices as usual!

A bientôt!

Cute summer outfit! Your shirt is the perfect summer shade of cool green. I know you will have a fantastic time with Jody and Rob, enjoy your trip! I’m sure there will be lots of thrifting on the agenda. In Arizona it will be hot, but at least it is dry and you won’t have to cope with the humidity!

Yes, the dry heat makes a big difference! It’s my 3rd time in Arizona in the summer (my brother got married there a few years ago) and I like dry heat much better than humid heat!

Packing is always a learning curve. And with this heat, I do try to concentrate on natural fibers even more. Many of my flowy pants are polyester and even though they are flowy, they don’t seem as cool.
Love the color combo and that purse is amazing,

I find I rarely feel like I got my packing “just right” no matter what. Even when visiting the same place at the same time the weather can feel so different from year to year and it’s hard to be ready for anything. I hope your trip goes real well!

You would think we would get it right, but yes, you are right, even the same time of the year can feel different.
