Layer it Up with the Ageless Style Link Up
It was my turn to choose a theme for our monthly style link up and I chose a versatile theme that would work to matter where you lived in the US as layers can be as heavy as a park or as light as a cotton button down shirt. For myself, I chose a piece I haven’t shared on the blog yet, a long sleeveless vest I found on clearance this summer at TJMaxx.
I was drawn to this vest for two reasons: the neutral tan color and the uniqueness of the vest. I did not have anything similar in my closet, it could provide warmth on a cold day and it would let other parts of an outfit shine.
The vest can be buttoned up and tied at the waist or it can be left open and tied in the back. I went for a neutral palette with the white jeans but tan booties, top and earrings.
Just like taking pictures in the cotton fields, you have to time your pictures with fallen leaves: if you wait too long they will be gone. I noticed the trees and leaves as I passed this spot we like to take pictures and texted my son letting him know I wanted to take pictures that afternoon. As he is trying to keep his bank account up and pays for his gas, he was more than willing.
Georgia weather can be all over the place in the fall. Cold mornings are a given most days but the temperature might increase 20 to 30 degrees during the day. Layers are really helpful and it is even better if you outfit still looks great when you take off that layer. This top has fun lace sleeves that are a statement on their own.
Here are two more tan monochromatic looks for inspiration:
And here is the last time I share this pretty top! I plan to wear that tan sweater and top look this winter: it is worthy to be repeated!

Thank you! And yes, it was the perfect theme to show how no matter where you live you can layer it up with style.

That is such a lovely outfit! I bet you’ll get a lot of use out of that vest.

I am planning to try different things but I think I will like it a lot with jeans.

Love this outfit on you of light neutrals for fall in the southern states! Layering is a great topic for the challenge, and all of the participants look great and are very creative. The vest looks like it will be a lot of fun to style for winter; and the fall foliage is just beautiful as a backdrop for your photos! Enjoy your weekend!

It is pretty thick so maybe with boots and my lace halftee? Going to have to try it out!

The long fall shadows, the autumn colors, that bright blue sky, the fallen leaves all cooperated to make this one really lovely post. I always forget that you live in Georgia. In my mind you are in Indiana…ha!! And when I saw that very cool wooden fence, I was reminded of Kentucky.
That vest is such a unique piece. You will get a lot of wear out of it. Very classy and timeless. I would like to see it styled buttoned with the belt tied, too. Maybe another layer up post?? I think it would look great with a warm brown turtleneck underneath. Really pretty look, from head to toe in a very pretty location. Wish I had a photo-taking son!!

The shadows were a little different that day. I just had to take pictures when I saw that they would be picking all those leaves soon. I do need to find some brwon. Someone suggested wearing it as a dress: might have to see. It is a little oversized but I could switch the belt and put a top under.

I really love the vest jacket!!

I love the neutral tones of it.

What a great find and I love the button details on this vest. It’s like a blazer but with a twist so I think it’s both casual and can be styled for a proffessional work place. We both styled vests and yet such a different vibe, that’s what I love about this link-up! Have a great weekend.

It makes me think of a wool trench coat minus the sleeve.
