Summer Alternatives to Shorts with the Ageless Style Link Up
When you thrift and photograph a pretty dress the same day Leslie chooses a theme for the June Ageless Link Up, it is meant to be! I bought this NWT dress (looks like an Asian brand) at Uptown Cheapskate about exactly 2 months before this post. I was drawn to the embroidery and the fun shape of the dress. I tend to wear fitted dresses, but decided to try this and I decided it was too fun and different to pass up.
I thought it would be perfect for Pascha (Orthodox Easter) with either white knee length biker shorts or capri leggings. I have a pair of each for these particular instances when I want extra coverage. Did you notice the dress has pockets?
The embroidery is really pretty and I love the pretty sky blue flowers which is why I decided to pair it with my Bensimon sneakers. Did you notice the embroidered cuff above? It’s another find from the boutique Jodie and I visited in April.
I’ve mentioned before how much I love my summer totes. Summer is probably the season where I change purses and totes the most. I chose one depending on the outing and the occasion: church, a little field trip, groceries…
I was trying to get my son to take pictures of my earrings (a little gift from Jodie) and it was funny to see how the close ups turned out: too serious, silly, creepy…
So why did I chose a dress as an alternative to shorts in the summer? Most dresses are going to be less tight than a pair of shorts and top. They allow more air flow which is really nice on hot summer days. They also typically cover more of your legs (this dress is longer in the back) which will keep you from sticking to your seat in your car. And if you choose the right dress, they can be very attractive and perfect for any occasion.
I cannot wait to see what the Ageless Style ladies chose as their summer alternative to shorts: I am thinking lots of dresses!

PERFECTION, my friend!! I think you shared a glimpse of this dress earlier on IG. I love it so much. The loose fit has to be cool in the summer heat. The embroidery is so bright and cheerful. And that cuff!! Oh, my gravy!! It is such a darling accessory. You look just adorable and your son took some excellent photos. Give that boy a raise.
