Caramel Shorts with Chambray Button Down
While pinning some inspiration pictures on Pinterest, I came across this cute little outfits featuring a pair of caramel shorts. To my happy surprise, I found a cute little pair of shorts in my new favorite neutral (caramel) the next day. My youngest and I went to take pictures by the pond for a change of scenery and you definitely can see how the inspiration outfit was the idea behind my outfit.
I loosely based my outfit on this and of course, I could have made it a closer replication by wearing my white sneakers and a hat. But now that I have a pedicure, sandals are going to be my preferred shoe choice!
I want to first share about my accessories as they are special: the pendant clock used to be my grandmother’s, the earrings were a gift from my mom and the leather (top) bracelet is a souvenir from France from middle school! My mom gave me the snakeskin clutch which she has had for 50+ years from Ivory Coast where she got married and lived for 5 years.
It was fun to see the ducks and geese around, but no babies! They are so comfortable around people.
While shorts are not my favorite thing to wear in the summer, they do have their place in my wardrobe. This pair is gauze-like so it will be a nice, cool pair, but I will make sure to put a towel on my seat if I am riding in a car! I do not like burning my legs!
My chambray pairs nicely with the shorts: I really like the contrast in color. Of course, by afternoon, I had to switch out my top for a graphic tee. I wore this on the last day of school which turned out to be a nice start to summer. We went to the pool twice (I am teaching my little photographer how to swim) and enjoyed a relaxed afternoon.
I am struggling with exercising regularly: I am finding that morning is the best: otherwise I just push back when I plan to walk, run or workout and it doesn’t happen. My friend has been running at 6 am, and I am finding it difficult to get up that early more than once a week. I do know that I need to keep it up to be stronger and healthier so I will renew my efforts.
I have managed a week that included 3 or 4 workouts on top of my walks or runs (which are happening less often as it is getting hot). Mowing the lawn and organizing the garage on Wednesday counted as exercise!

Having a workout buddy is the only way we get to the gym on a regular basis. Either that or finding a trainer…like my stepmom always says, your health is your best investment.

Exactly! It’s already too hot for me to wear it! I was just looking at all my light jackets and thinking how I wish our cooler weather lasted longer because that layer is fun to wear but it often is too warm.

Check out those beautiful legs!! This outfit really shows them off. I love the color of the shorts and the idea of pairing them with the blue chambray. My sister-in-law had the cutest chambray shirt in Colorado. I have a very lightweight one and need to wear it like a lightweight wrap. The AC everywhere is too much for me even though we are burning up already with triple digits.
We are struggling to get up these days, too. In fact, some nights I am sleeping all night through which is unheard of. This coming week maybe we will both get back to working out a little more routinely.
