Packing for France
This is one of two posts dedicated to what I am packing for France. This post will focus on what I am packing for myself while the next one will be about what I am packing for my 4 boys. Next Monday, I will have a post showing some of the outfits that these following items can create. We will be traveling to France end of May/beginning of June for 2 weeks including our traveling time. We will fly to Barcelona, Spain and travel up north to my friends who live east of Paris with stops on the way to visit other friends. From our past trip in 2013, I…

What a scarf can do!
A couple weeks ago, on a cooler spring day we decided to spend a day window shopping downtown before having lunch and hiking. Since I knew where we were hiking, I decided I wanted to wear my hiking boots. The cooler weather warranted my leggings and long sleeve tunic. But I wanted to make the outfit cuter and more dressy for walking around town so I added a scarf. The scarf adds a splash of color and the spring colors and tassels brings the outfit up a notch. I have been wanting to take pictures in front of this mural for a while now so while we waited for my…

Our Pascha basket
As Orthodox christians the date for Easter (or Pascha) sometimes coincides with western Easter but sometimes it is a week or so later. The date for Pascha is determined as the Sunday following the paschal full moon, which is the full moon that falls on or after the spring equinox. This was established in 325 A.D., by the Council of Nicaea. This year Pascha or Orthodox Easter falls on April 28. We usually have our Pascha baskets blessed after the night liturgy. This is our Pascha basket this year. Traditionnally, you will place items that you fasted from through lent such as cheese, meats and special sweets. This time, I…

Entertainment on a plane
Over the years, I actually I have started to pack less for my children’s entertainment. As they get older they do not use as many things and as I like to pack lightly, I have learned from our experiences. This post is dedicated to plane rides since I usually try to bring less. Food Yes, food is entertainment. It helps pass the time and can pacify children. Baby: My youngest will be 18 months old on our next flight to Europe. Travel times will be around 11 hours but actual plane time will be close to 8 or 9 hours. I will pack the following for the plane: fruit loops…

One peasant blouse, 4 ways
Whenever you buy a new piece of clothing, you want to have a variety of ways to wear it in mind. You may choose to change up accessories, different bottoms or layers to create new outfits. In this post, I am using a blush peasant blouse I found on the clearance rack at Target. Since the blouse has interesting details such as the tassels and the details at the collar and sleeves, I created different outfits by changing shoes and bottoms. With joggers and brown sandals I love these joggers! I can dress them up for a date or down for a casual outfit. This particular pair from JCpenney is…

Literacy magnet letters center
I remember a parent asking me one year at the beginning of the school year how many years I had taught and how many children I had. I guess she was concerned about my youth and wanted to make sure I was the right teacher for her son. While I have not been in the classroom for years now, I do have 6 years of experience in at the elementary level and also taught at the preschool level. I used the following literacy center with my third graders but also with 4 year old too, just using it for different activities. Storage Storage is important: you want your child to…

Republic of Georgia, part 4, canyon and caves
After returning to Tbilisi for a few days, we traveled to Kutaisi, a city in West Georgia. We used an app called Map.Me to get there. This app was a life saver since it does not use date but the gps on your cell phone. You can use it in any country! Kutaisi is a great home base to visit wonderful monasteries (Gelati and Motsameta), the Bagrati cathedral, Prometheus Cave and Okatse Canyon. Bagrati Cathedral We visited this cathedral a few times since it was a 5 minutes walk from our hotel. It is an 11th century cathedral that is a UNESCO world heritage site. We attended liturgy there on…

Inspired by Jodie Filogomo
Once again another blogger, Jodie from Jodie Touch of Style (and her moms) has sparked my interest with her theme for the week. During the last week of March, they styled black and white with bright colors, pastels and. In my case, I went with a simple combo of black and white with black and white. The shirt is from Shein which right now is only is plus sizes. This ruffle short sleeve tee is now $9 which is close to the price I paid for it. This is the only time that I have bought from Shein but I will say that the shirt has really held up to…

Favorite board games
I grew up playing board games with my brothers. I remember playing Monopoly and if I didn’t get Board Walk I would give up! We played Scrabble, Mille Bornes, the Game of Life and a few more games. Once of my favorite games that I wish I could find was a game that had you touring France following different routes: I am hoping to find the game for sale somewhere on my trip but as of right now I don’t see it anywhere for sale. Since I try to limit screen time for my children, when they are not playing outside or reading, I encourage them to play board games.…
