    Countryside Bike Ride

Last Wednesday, I joined two of my running friends for a bike ride through the countryside about 30 minutes from my house. I’ve always liked to bike having learned to ride in our little village in France. We usually rent bikes at the beach in Florida for a day or more and I just love combining exercise with a fun sight seeing adventure. I enjoy biking more than running as it is more of a leisure activity and you can cover more ground so I was excited to join my friends. We bought some nice bikes a few years ago and have enjoyed them mostly in the fall when it…

Open Knit Sweater 3 Ways: October Sunday Showcase

I always struggle when shopping retail: am I contributing to the fast fashion industry with my buying habits and my love of shopping? I really have tried to thrift more this year and to give myself some shopping breaks to shop my closet, but I still have shopped retail here and there. There are a few places I do not shop for clothes, the 2 top ones being TEMU (those prices sure are coming at the detriment of someone) and SheIn. Yes, I still purchase from Target, Old Navy and other places but I really have been trying to limit those excursions. Today, I am sharing a sweater I bought…

Elderberry Syrup for Cold and Flu Season

“Elderberry syrup is known as a powerful cold preventative and remedy. Just one cup of berries contains about 58% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. It’s also a great source of antioxidants — which may protect your cells from damage and help prevent heart disease and cancer” (google search). It is well kown that certain home remedies and more natural practice are more effective and better for you than the drugs that are offered on the market. Yes, I am a proponent of modern medecine when it is needed, but I do not like to give my children medicine when it is not needed. For seasonal allergies, we…

    September in Review

I so enjoyed reading about Gail’s month (here) that I decided I would participate in reviewing my month: hopefully I won’t be boring you! Sept 1: Happy Anniversary 21st! I went for a 2 mile run and came back to a bouquet and a candy bar. My husband and I met my parents for lunch and we went out to dinner too. I decorated the house a little since I am hosting a baby shower this month, it is my son’s birthday tomorrow and my husband and mine’s in a couple of weeks. Sept 2: Started the day with a 3 mile walk with a friend. Cross country meet after…

    Maxi Dress as Kimono

Sometimes you purchase something and it is not exactly what you expect: I often forget to read the details about the fabric and while this dress’ shape and color looks exactly like the picture online, it is not the material I had hoped. It fits buttoned up but feels kind of stiff and I decided that I might like it better as a kimono. I have several ideas on how to wear it, but this was the first that came to mind (I also think that it would look great over a column of white. In early fall, when it is a little too early for booties, I pull out…

    Southwestern Inspired Outfit

Leslie, who live in El Paso came up with our theme this month and I was excited to see what I could come up with. I had just purchased a pair of light yellow denim pants on sale from Jjill and headed to Pinterest for some inspiration. I then looked through my closet to put together today’s outfit. In real life, I probably would exchange the denim dress for my black denim shirt, but otherwise I really love this outfit! I first want to share my turquoise jewelry! I wanted my grandmother’s necklace to pop so I chose my black tank to showcase it. My earrings were gifted from brand…

Fun at a Small Airport: Dekalb Peachtree Airport

A couple of weekends, ago, we were invited to a birthday party at the Dekalb Peachtree Aiport in Atlanta. I use to meet up with friends there when I lived in Stone Mountain, but it had been years since I had been. I took the 2 youngest as I knew they would enjoy the birthday party (for a 5 year old) and the location. I wasn’t sure whether there would be a few or many planes since it was a Sunday afternoon and boy, were we surprised and impressed by the number and variety of airplanes landing and taking off. This little airport is a great location for a party…

    Inspired by Jacqui at Mummabstylish

When I first started blogging 4 years ago, I used to find it difficult to come up with weekly fashion posts but this past year, I have been very inspired! I have been writing posts in advance as I come up with ideas for outfits shopping my closet, wearing a new piece or being inspired to put an outfit together after seeing a fun outfit on someone. I’ve also been gifted pieces this year and have typically shared those items on the blog too. Last month, I shared an outfit inspired by Cammi (read here) and today, my inspiration came all the way from the UK when Jacqui shared an…

Halftee Looks: a Closet Simple Solution

This past year, I have received different gifted items from different businesses and I would say my most used items are my Halftees! While my favorite Halftee is the simple white cap sleeve one (I bought one in the spring and just purchased another one to replace it since I wear it so much), these two new ones are really fun! Meet the Peekaboo navy halftee and the Puff Sleeve blush pink halftee. These halftee are not only practical but very pretty! Puff Sleeve Pink Halftee All I can say is cute, cute cute! The light pink is really pretty and the puff detail is fun without being overpowering. The…

How to go to the Fair on a Budget

If you are on a budget, I would suggest staying away from the fair because you will probably spend more money than you expect. Since we had not been to our local carnival fair for 5 years, we decided to head there for some fun on Labor Day. Thankfully, I had a visa giftcard I had forgotten about (my husband waited for a later flight a month or so ago and received some money from the airline for giving up his seat) so we actually did not spend any money out of pocket. However, I had no plans to spend that whole giftcard, so I prepared myself first by checking…
