Maxi Skirts in Cold Weather with the Ageless Style Link Up

It is always interesting to see what theme is going to be suggested for our Ageless Style monthly post. I wouldn’t have thought of maxi skirts for winter, but it is a theme that gets us creative and I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this outfit on a bright cold Sunday morning. When wearing a skirt in the winter, you need to think about what to make sure you are warm and I was not cold at all. I picked up this maxi skirt at Belk in the clearance section: I love the print and color and it even has pockets! It is very flowy and not too light for a winter…

Inspired by The Stylo Rouge: Oversized Blazer with Denim Skirt

All I can say is great minds think alike! Both Jodie and I thought it would be great to replicate Ashley’s outfit in a blog post so we decided to do so together! So you get 3 looks in one post today. Both Jodie and I borrowed something from our husband’s closet and I borrowed one thing from my son! Here is the link to Ashley’s blog post I love the texture in Ashley’s boots and wool blazer, as well as the hem on her denim skirt. Since I do not have an oversized blazer, I borrowed my 13 year old’s blazer (it is still too big for him so…

    3 Ways to wear Leggings

Wearing leggings as part of an outfit does not mean that you have to look like a slob: you can look put together weather you are wearing them casually with a sweatshirt and sneakers or they can be part of a really cute outfit. Think about outfits where you would be wearing black jeans. I just make sure that my bum is covered to keep the look put together and modest. Casual Look This is probably the most dressed down you will see me in leggings: I combine them with a cozy but nice sweatshirt and try to choose a pair of cute sneakers. With my utilitarian hiking shoes, I…

The world through my 17 year old’s eyes

Ever wondered how your children view the world? Do they see beauty where we see beauty? Do they take the time to stop and “smell the roses”? I asked my son to give me 5 pictures for this post and I was pleasantly pleased that he does what I do: he takes the time to admire the beauty around him sometimes and with the ease of having a camera because he has a phone, he sometimes immortalizes that moment with a picture. Sunset by Chili’s Sunset over the tennis courts Sunset over school The sky is on fire! Foggy Morning A bientôt! Please take a minute to subscribe to the…

A Valentine’s Day Look for the Sunday Showcase

More than likely, my husband will be out of town for Valentine’s day, but we will try our hardest for a date this month. I thought this pretty outfit with my red tulle skirt and the cozy fun topper would tie in both Valentine’s Day and winter with the textures. I added a fun detail with the pink combat boots: it’s all about the juxtaposition of feminine and edgy with today’s look! I probably would have never imagined myself wearing this when I was younger: I didn’t have the confidence of wearing what I thought would look good and probably paid too much attention to what other people thought. I…

    Poncho with a Belt

When I started brainstorming ideas for blog posts for February, I tried to come up with a variety of themes: trying something new with an item I have had for a while, ways to wear a particular piece, inspired by, outfit round up… My goal is to continue to inspire you to spend some time in your closet in 2024, find new ways to wear what you have and of course have a little fun here and there by adding a new piece. This poncho is several years old and has had a staying power in my closet because it is really warm and can be paired with dresses and…

A Look into my Fall/Winter Closet Organization

As I was refolding my sweaters and setting out some outfits to wear in the coming week, I decided to take some quick pictures of my closet to show you how I organize my clothes. I am very grateful for the size of my closet: it is in a L shape with lots of space to hang clothes and has 2 sets of shelves separate from where you can hang clothes. Some of my clothes stay out year round while I rotate others. In fall and winter, my sandals are put away and my boots/sneakers are on display. In the same manner, sweaters and jeans and heavier pants are on…

Inspired by Doused in Pink: Leather, Tan and Combat Boots

I have been inspired to replicate several of Jill’s (Doused in Pink) outfits over the years. One of them even included this same poncho here. You can see a look with plaid pants here and a rainbow skirt here. I love getting an idea on how to wear what I already have in a new way and that usually happens through a photo on IG or on Pinterest. I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy wearing these skinny liquid leather pants from Clara Sunwoo! I started by thinking they would be more for dressy events, but turns out they are really perfect for daily outfits. Such a fun soft…

From an Idea to Reality: Outfits of the Day

Today, I am sharing how I plan for outfits during the week: I am sharing a collage of how I thought the outfits would work and how I was pleased in some instances, but also how I changed certain outfits. I love planning my outfits ahead of time because it encourages me to pull out things I haven’t rotated and it helps me come up with new ideas. This is probably a post similar to others I have written, with real life outfits, but today I do have the before idea photograph as a quick outfit layout. Pink Sweater I have loved this sweater since I bought it last month…

    Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park

With life’s recent challenges, I have had to make sure to take time for myself to recharge. Last week, I shared part of my husband’s and I day date (in Marietta, GA) and today I am sharing the first part of our little outing. We decided to hike Kennesaw Mountain since it is about 30 minutes from our house, it’s a fairly short hike and it was a beautiful cold winter day. We brought along some snacks and water as we originally planned to walk this trail with the boys. One of the local vendors of our summer farmer’s market has been holding a small table/booth at a store downtown…
