Soft Themed Pajamas and More with Valerie’s Avenue

I have shared Yenni’s online boutique Valerie’s Avenue in the past as Yenni and I met a few years ago and have collaborated together several times over the years, as well as met in person several times too. I’ve also purchased a beautiful embroidered backpack purse and some embroidered booties from her boutique a couple years ago and have shared them on the blog several times. Since Christmas was approaching, Yenni suggested I feature one of the Christmas pajamas you can order in her boutique. So we met up at the Hilton Conference center in Marietta to take some pictures. I am pretty particular with my pajamas and my favorite…

    Tulle Dress for Winter

Yes, it’s time to style some tulle for winter! Some of my favorite pieces in my closet this year have been my tulle skirts and this tulle dress which I wore for my 50th birthday which I also styled for fall (here and here). After wearing it then, I knew I wanted to show you some ways a dress like this (or a skirt), could be worn in winter. Of course, if it was really cold, I would add a nice warm scarf and maybe a hat to these outfits. I hope you enjoy these and find some inspiration to have fun getting dressed this winter season! Layer a Sweater…

    Teal for the Holidays

A couple years ago, I style different color combinations for Christmas and the holiday. It is not all about red and green, but gold, metallics and pretty jewel colors like burgundy and teal. I think a festive look has a lot to do with the use of textures whether it is leather, suede, velvet or metallics. Today, I am sharing some inspiration with a pair of pants I found at TJmaxx earlier this fall. Lace Teal Blouse I thrifted this blouse this summer and I have worn it at least a handful of times this fall. It the perfect touch of femininity! The pants shimmer in the light with the…

Sequin Skirt: 3 Ways to Wear

When the right skirt comes along, you get inspired and find all kinds of ways to wear it. Your clothes should inspire you and not make you feel like you “need to” wear them. I shared a sequin skirt I returned earlier this month because I did not like the shape of it, and I felt it look cheap with the large paillettes versus some small sequins. Today I am sharing 3 ways I came up with (with some Pinterest inspiration) and I wore the first one to church a couple weeks ago. I look forward to wearing it all winter long too. Sequin Skirt: Casual Style The first thing…

    Tulle and Faux Leather

It’s another inspired by outfit by Anne from France which I introduced to you earlier this month in this post. I have loved pretty much every outfit she has shared on Instagram and love how she usually photographs and films her outfits on the shore near where she lives, at least in the warmer months. It adds another whimsical element to her looks. I have thought of pairing my faux leather jacket with a tulle skirt before (I did in this post for an edgy holiday look), but pairing it with this particular ombre tulle skirt makes it even more whimsical. I followed Anne’s color recipe for this outfit and…

Vests for the Ageless Style Link Up

Vests… sweater ones, long ones, cropped ones, suit vests… there are many kinds of vests to choose from nowadays. For this month’s theme of vests, I chose my trench vest to feature here. I’ve worn it as a dress before as well as over a dress, jeans, and a skirt. It is very versatile and useful in the south as it gives you a layer without sleeves: a little warmth, but not too much! For today’s look, I wanted to wear it as a layered look with my button down. I played a little with textures: liquid leather skinny pants from Clara Sunwoo, snakeskin booties and the texture from the…

    Modern Scarf Outfits

After sharing some scarf around the waist outfits last month (here), I was inspired to take advantage of the fall weather to wear more of my scarves. Fall and spring seem to be the seasons when I reach the most of these lightweight scarves, and this year I have been drawn to square scarves and all of the ways they can be styled. Most of my inspiration has been from Instagram and I saved a few videos as some ideas are a little more complicated than others. Most of my scarves were thrifted for as little as 50c to a few dollars. When a necklace might fail me, a scarf…

Fall Date night in a Thrifted Denim Dress

Sometimes writing a blog post is a dress up session for future outfits, and there have been several of these types of posts this month. I am planning to take this outfit for a date night at the beach at the end of the month, but I might change my shoe choice depending on the forecast. Tall boots might be a little warm! I found the inspiration for this outfit on IG and yes, I have shared several outfits seen on IG this month. I instantly knew what to pair together to replicate this outfit and I love that the scarf hides my middle section! I did not knot the…

    Embroidered Denim: Fall Favorite

One of my favorite things about the arrival of fall and cooler weather is to get back to wearing some of my favorite denim jeans. Most of my jeans right now are thrifted, but a few I have bought in boutiques. With the trend of wearing different cuts of denim (I still haven’t tried a pair of barrel jeans), I have diversified my collection with wide leg jeans, straight jeans, etc. Today I am sharing my 3 pairs of embroidered jeans and how I typically style them. It it was colder, I would be pairing them with boots and sweaters. These outfits are fairly simply and play with textures through…

To Keep or not to Keep: the Saga of a Sequin Skirt

Last month, Jodie shared an Old Navy sale for a sequin skirt in her newsletter. While I am loving textured sweaters, pants and skirts, I really hadn’t been on the lookout for a sequin skirt. However, I was instantly intrigued and interested. The skirt came in 3 colors (cream, silver and light green) and was less than $30. After debating about it, I ordered it and it arrived surprisingly fast. My first impression was that I wasn’t sure about the sequins: they were clear over the shimmery cream sparkling skirt and I felt they looked a little cheap. I did like how the skirt swished when it moved and decided…
