Tulle Dress for Winter
Yes, it’s time to style some tulle for winter! Some of my favorite pieces in my closet this year have been my tulle skirts and this tulle dress which I wore for my 50th birthday which I also styled for fall (here and here). After wearing it then, I knew I wanted to show you some ways a dress like this (or a skirt), could be worn in winter. Of course, if it was really cold, I would add a nice warm scarf and maybe a hat to these outfits. I hope you enjoy these and find some inspiration to have fun getting dressed this winter season! Layer a Sweater…

Teal for the Holidays
A couple years ago, I style different color combinations for Christmas and the holiday. It is not all about red and green, but gold, metallics and pretty jewel colors like burgundy and teal. I think a festive look has a lot to do with the use of textures whether it is leather, suede, velvet or metallics. Today, I am sharing some inspiration with a pair of pants I found at TJmaxx earlier this fall. Lace Teal Blouse I thrifted this blouse this summer and I have worn it at least a handful of times this fall. It the perfect touch of femininity! The pants shimmer in the light with the…

Trench Vest: Another Winter Neutral Palette Outfit
It took me a bit to come up with the title of this blog post. I hadn’t originally planned to take blog pictures of this outfit, but I really liked it and I thought that after sharing the trench vest as a dress last week, it would be fun to show you how I wear it most of the time. I have paired it with a variety of tops and pants, even skirt and over dresses, but this classic monochromatic combo is one of my favorites. My friend Rachel whose book I shared last week gave me these fun mules. She had thrifted them, but decided that she really didn’t…

Pinks and Reds with the Ageless Style Link Up
Pinks and reds is an appropriate theme for February! I didn’t want to share a look that was very thematic, so when I was putting together a church outfit last month and realized the skirt was predominantly pink, I decided to incorporate it in a look that would work all winter long including February! Here’s a little breakdown of this outfit: the skirt is a summer skirt from Billabong that I was influenced to buy a couple years ago. It’s a style that I like, but the side slit is really high and you will see my solution for that in the picture below. High it is! I wore my…

Vest as a Dress: Inspired by IdoDeclaire
Laura from I do DeClaire shared several ways to wear her vest in a post in December. She categorized hers as a trench dress. Mine is thicker and I bought it on clearance at TJMaxx a couple years ago. I have worn is open as a vest several times and never would have thought to wear it as a dress, but it works! I decided to wear this at my friend’s book launch party as I wanted to wear something warm as the temperature were hovering in the low 20s with a wind-chill. The party was hosted at a coffee shop in Chattanooga which is a 1h30 drive from my…

Outfit Inspiration with a Neutral Long Cardigan
I have had this tan cardigan for several years now, having bought it at Target fall of 2022. As I saw it hanging in my closet, I decided to see how I wore it in the past and to wear it a few more ways this year. The oatmeal color makes it versatile and the length and weight make it a cozy layer. I have found it looks great over pants and leggings, but is cute as a dress too. The first combo I am sharing is a simple one of leggings, tunic and cardigan. I really like the combo of black and tan, it’s simple yet classic. Because the…

Valentine’s Day Look
I wore this a few weeks ago for Sunday church and thought it would be a great Valentine’s day look. I am not much one for holiday themed clothing, but rather like to wear something in a holiday color scheme. So for this look, I started to look at my closet in terms of reds, pinks and whites. I decided to wear my burgundy tulle skirt instead of my red one for two reasons: I have shared it less and the darker color is a little more understated in my opinion. The polka dots are fun and I decided to wear black booties with it, choosing these because of the…

Sweater over a Dress
The idea of wearing a sweater over a dress is not a new idea. I am revisiting it because I think that it is a great way to expand your closet and think of your dresses as skirts. I am sharing some older pictures at the end of this post to give you some more inspiration ideas and you will notice that in those outfits I usually chose neutral sweaters. This time, I wanted to do something a little different and decided to wear my “magic dress” which I shared earlier this year. This was actually the first time I wore it for more than just pictures: it was a…

Scarves: 2025 Looks
There are many types of scarves: silk scarves, pashmina, blanket scarves, infinity, rectangle… Some are said to be out while others are preferred. Today, I am sharing 3 scarves and I tried to create modern looks with them. I am not sure if I succeeded but I did enjoy wearing each outfits. Warm winter scarves come in handy on cold winter days and add a touch of coziness, warmth and interest. Multicolored Thrifted Scarf When I saw this fun, colorful scarf when thrifting in the fall, I couldn’t pass it up from $2. It is not particularly thick or warm, but is perfect with my velvet bodysuit. Since the bodysuit…

Styling Velvet Joggers: Casual Fit
I hadn’t worn my velvet joggers since last year, so I decided it was time to share some casual outfit inspiration with them. I wore the first outfit and a variation of the cardigan one since I took the pictures. You could easily replicate these ideas with any joggers but also with any textured pants. These would be great ideas to try with faux leather. Now what is fun is that I have another 5 ways to wear them in this post from 2022! I also shared a fun festive outfit with them in a post last year here and with a pretty festive top at the end of this…
