Outfit Details: Bringing your Outfit to the Next Level

While I buy some simple pieces here and there and I like my classic denim, when I buy tops and sweaters, I like to buy pieces that have a little bit of a detail that elevates the garment. It could be texture, a sleeve detail, embroidery or like in this case, an embelishment. The sweater itself is very simple with a crewneck and a loose fit (I bought it in size L). When I tried it on, I loved the fun sleeves with the cutouts and the pearls. Because the embelishments are not at the neck, the sweater is still very versatile. I can wear a scarf with it or…

2 Coats for a Winter Day

Today, I am sharing two winter coats that I like to wear when I want to dress up whatever I am wearing. I am wearing both over a simple outfit of jeans, sweater and boots, but you can see how both really dress up the look. I do have several other winter layers such as two winter down jackets as well as some lighter jackets. I found this Free People sweater while thrifting a couple of years ago and the fun sleeve with the sequins really make it an interesting top. These flared jeans always surprise me with how good they look (I got a compliment from some random guy…

A New Year’s or Date Outfit for the Sunday Showcase

I decided to go ahead and post the Sunday Showcase today since the 1st is tomorrow. Today, I am sharing an outfit I wore to church and to stop by a friend’s Christmas brunch after, but I think this look would be perfect for any special event in the winter. I think it would be pretty for a New Year’s Party with fancier shoes or a date night. I love it when I wear something in real life and decide to share it here on the blog too because I loved it so much. I thrifted this Vince Camuto dress for less than $10 in Chattonooga last winter and it…

    Simple but Put Together Outfit

When I plan my daily outfits, most of them are outfits that will photograph well and look like I spent a few minutes planning what I was going to wear. The shoes typically match the activity, there is some color coordination and at least one or two accessories. So when I went to get my hair cut and the boys and I went mini golfing, I felt put together. The mini golf setting was so cute, I decided we should take some pictures for the blog as we waited for each other’s turn. I was dressed knowing that we would be outside and knowing that it was going to be…

Christmas Looks: Festive Wear for Church and More

I wanted to share what I wore this weekend for church to give you some inspiration for your get-togethers this year or next. I shopped my closet for these looks, some items are really old and I don’t even know where I got them while others are more recent buys from this fall. All have been worn in different ways before. I knew I wanted to wear the silver sweater one day, the velvet another and that my red tulle skirt would be part of my Christmas outfit. From there, I created my outfits. Fuzzy Silver Sweater I first tried the sweater with a long black velvet skirt, but it…

Festive but Non Traditional Outfits for December

I like to dress up a little in December, with sparkle, texture and fun outfits, but I usually don’t want to wear a traditional red or green Christmas-y outfit. Today, I am sharing some of my favorites this month. Some outfits are more casual than others, but I have really enjoyed coming up with my outfits this month. Blue Teal or turquoise rank are at the top of my favorite colors. So I made sure to pull out my two bright sweaters this month.   I wore my lace Halftee (code MIREILLE20) under my thrifted sweater tunic. I love the length of this top since it allows me to wear…

    Winter Black and White Outfit

I usually wear either an all white or an all black monochromatic look, but I do not typically pair the two colors together. When I thrifted this fun vest for a couple of dollars, I was both attracted by the polka dot pattern and the weight of it. It is also not too puffy. I have found vests to be practical especially if I am walking outside because I do not overheat in them. Today’s look is an ode to snow: my decorative sleigh is my call to snow this year. Georgia has not had a real snow in 6 years and we are ready! The black hoodie henley is…

7 Day Skirt Challenge with Is This Mutton

I love participating in Gail’s (Is This Mutton) fall skirt challenge because it gets me out of my denim fall-back in autumn. I love the idea of wearing all my clothes more, so this challenge is a great opportunity to try some new combos using what I have in my closet. Everything is old apart from the tulle skirt which I purchased early November. What can I say? I absolutely love this skirt: I featured it in this blog post for an early fall look while at the beach and I plan to wear it for Christmas in an edgy look. I want another tulle skirt now! I’ve had this…

Christmas Look: All the Textures for the Sunday Showcase

I am excited to wear some fun holiday looks this month: I think I might do a week of Hallmark movie inspired looks on IG. It’s just fun to pull out all the velvet, the tulle and pretty colors. I have my eye on a couple pieces with sequins at TJmaxx if they still have them when I stop by the store. Today’s look started with this fun sweater I bought at Cato’s fashion last year on the clearance rack. The fun texture, the silver color, the bow caught my eye and while I didn’t wear it last year, I plan to wear it Christmas eve this year and maybe…

7 Day of Skirts: Transitioning from Winter to Spring

As spring approaches, I am once more excited to wear skirts and things I have not reached for in the past few months. Our weather in Georgia is still all over the place with many pretty days but also cooler rainy days. So I am not really wearing just my spring skirts as much as the ones that I think transition from one season to the other. I am not ready for sandals yet, so what you will notice is that many of these skirts are paired with sneakers which are my shoe of choice right now. I wanted to wear this thrifted sweater skirt one more time before I…
