Gauzy White Button Down: 5 ways
I recently bought this shirt as I wanted to have a layer for sleeveless dresses for church but then realized it was quite versatile. I quickly thought about 5 different ways I could wear it. I found this on the clearance rack at TJMaxx for $12 and I love the cotton gauzy material as well as the loose fit and tie. It is a reminder to not look at size as it is XS but fits me well without being tight at all.
Over a Sleeveless Dress
I love this Target tiered dress but it is not appropriate for my church with the deep V and sleeveless sleeves. I cuffed the sleeves since it is still the middle of summer here and I added a half tee type tank for modesty. I chose some leopard accessories for a fun print. Each time I see this dress in pictures or walk down stairs, I love how it flows! So glad I bought it this summer. See it here!
With Olive Shorts for Summer
I decided to see how it would work with shorts and without a layer under. It works! I wore this last week but I think it will be cute too with the sleeves down in the fall.
The large brown buttons are really fun. I added my colorful Sanuk sandals and layered some of my favorite bracelets. The leather one with my name on it dates back to a souvenir from a middle school trip!
As a layer with Jeans
Just as it can be layered over a dress, the shirt can be layered over a tee or a tank. I then only tie the last button.
With a Skirt
I think this look would also work in the fall with booties or boots, and with a fall hat. I tucked the blouse in with this skirt but would leave it out with a pencil type skirt.
Colorful accessories keep the outfit fun. This shirt would work with any skirt in my closet I believe!
With Colored Joggers for Fall
Here is another fall look! I am missing my wedge sneakers and can’t wait to wear them again!
I am not sure how much I like this look as the joggers are not really slim fitting. I usually pair more form fitting things with baggier/looser bottoms and vice versa.
Do you have a piece such as this that can work with many other items in your closet? Can it be layered over or under things? Think about these questions when you add something new to your closet so that you get your money’s worth or cost per wear! I probably will create another post when the weather is cooler and show how this can work for cool weather. What a great find!

What is the half tee type tank that you mentioned wearing with the dress? Is it shorter than a regular camisole? If so, it sounds as if it would keep you cooler than a regular camisole. Do you have a link to it? Thanks!

Gayle, that took me a minute since I couldn’t remember the name of the company but here is the link: https://jamieroseandco.com/collections/layering-tops/products/crop-top-cami?variant=31511205707876
It fits over my bra and is very light weigth. It is cropped so perfect when you do not want excess fabric bunching.

Thank you!

This was such a good buy, Mireille. It looks equally good with all the ways you’ve shown it.

Thanks, Kim. I am pleased I bought it!
Nancy
Now why do I always buy stuff that can be worn by only one item? You are good!
mimifce
Lol! I am trying to do better with buying things like that, that work many ways.
Penny
That’s a very useful shirt! You really suit red – love the dress. But I think the striped skirt is wonderful. Have a good week 🙂
mimifce
Thanks, Penny! I am so loving that dress and finding new ways to wear the striped skirt. Finding what works and doesn’t work.

So many cute looks Mireille! This post just gave me so many outfit ideas of my own, styling a white button blouse I recently “thrifted” from my mom’s closet. I especially love your top as a sun layer over that orange dress. Too cute!

This was a good one because usually I do not like them! I think it is because it is 100% cotton in that light weight gauzy texture.

This is definitely so versatile. I do like it with the joggers…at least in the photos it doesn’t look like too much bagginess!!

Such a great shirt, you get a lot of wear from it! I really like it layered over your dress, I need to try that look myself! I don’t have a lot of shirts to try it with, I’m more of a tee person 🙂
Thank you for joining the #weekdaywearlinkup! Hope that you had a lovely weekend 🙂 We managed to attend two birthday parties, even though the new restrictions made things a little different!

I do wear mostly tees and have a hard time with button down which is why I was so surprised how much I liked this one. I think it has to do with the material and how it fits/flows. Have a great week!
Michelle
Very versatile top! You are putting it to excellent use. My favorite is with the red dress.
