Coral Dress and Sunflowers

Sunflowers! I love sunflowers! Growing up in the south of France, it was not unusual to come accross fields of sunflowers while traveling. I still remember going to a week long camp and my friends and I picking seeds from the sunflowers to eat them. I haven’t come accross those large sunflowers here but I decided that this year, I would find some fields to visit. Sunflowers and lavender are my favorite! After an internet search, I came accross Anderson Sunflower Farms in Cummings which is about an hour drive from my house. It was a $20 parking fee per car and you could then explore the fields and take pictures. There were also some other fun spots to take pictures such as tractors and a bench with a pretty sunflower backdrop. The peek season last 7 to 10 days and we went right in the middle of their season. There were many sunflowers and still more to open up. I even purchased a souvenir tee with a large sunflower on the back.

As a “true” blogger, I had to of course think about what I would wear to take pictures. Yes, I would be taking pictures of the kids but I wanted to include a blog post. I ordered the Universal Thread dress from Target that I have seen featured in at least 5 other bloggers posts and ordered it in the red: the red to me is more of a coral red and a very vibrant color. Check out Lisa and Andrea!I would have ordered it in either black or purple but they were out of stock or wouldn’t ship to my address.

I am wearing the dress in size small and it fit me well. It has some stretch. The V neck is a little deep but not immodest but I might pick up some fashion tape to prevent any incident. The back has also a v neck but I forgot to photograph it. I added a belt for more definition at the waist: I do not typically like an empire waist and the waist on this dress is definitely high on me.

Andrea from Living on Cloud Nine inspired me to wear my turquoise sandals with it: what a great color combo! I added some pretty little earrings in the same color scheme. I can think of so many colors I can try with these or patterns: black and white, leopard, yellow, black… I could add a graphic tee on top too or a sweater!

I really love the skirt of the dress: at 5’4″ it is a maxi length on me and not midi and it is fully lined. It flows well and I should have given it a twirl!

I really think the dress would have been better with a lower waistline which is why I put the belt below the smocking (I should have check that the buckle was centered before my pictures lol!). Despite being stung at the waist by a bee (what an aim right below the belt), we really had a nice time and I will return next year. It was pretty warm even at 10 am but the farm is open from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. One could come earlier or in the evening from some really nice pictures.

All 3 oldest boys helped with taking pictures on this day: the two in front of the sunflower backdrop and bench were by my 6 year old and the one in the shade in the field by the 9 year old. The others were by my oldest. Thanks, boys! This was an activity I wanted to do and not them so I am grateful that they tagged along without too much complaining.

I couldn’t go to France or Spain or anywhere in Europe but this farm brought France to me!

A bientΓ΄t!
