Folly Beach and Sullivan Island, SC
I am finally getting to the last of my posts from our trip to South Carolina! I am ending with where we started and ended our trip. There is no better time to enjoy a couple of hours on the beach than after and before a 5 hour or so road trip. While not nearly as pretty as the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico which are our favorite, these two beaches were very pretty and a nice escape from our regular day to day life.
Folley Beach
There is nothing like putting your feet in the water! I really don’t like swimming in the ocean but enjoy sitting and watching the waves, looking for sealife and seashells.
It was the end of the day when we arrived in Folly Beach so we enjoyed walking on the pier as well as seeing a few dolphins.
When I posted on Instagram, someone told me they were tearing down the pier to build a new one which should take a couple of years. I am glad we got to enjoy it on this trip. Folly Beach was about 30 minutes from our hotel in the historic district in Charleston.
There were a few people swimming and surfing as well as paddle boarding. I have only paddle boarded on a lake. I am not sure how well I would on more wavy water. We ended the evening with dinner. The boys enjoyed some mac and cheese from a food truck.
Sullivan Beach
Driving to this beach on Sullivan Island was also about 30 minutes from our hotel. We did not enjoy this beach as much since it was a pet friendly beach open to owners with pets certain hours which is when we were there. Most dogs were not on a leash and ran around freely. While they were all friendly, it made my kids uncomfortable.
Nevertheless, it was a pretty beach. We walked on a pretty boardwalk toward the water. I was surprised how wide the beach was.
The water was very shallow which was really nice for the kids. The boys also enjoyed digging in the sand and looking for seashells.
I have always enjoyed the little clam shells and this one was so pretty and purple.
Jellyfish anyone? I have never been stung by one but we always watch for them when walking on the beach.
Where is your favorite beach?

Such great beach pictures! I’m glad to read I’m not the only one who doesn’t like to swim in the ocean, even though I like to be close to it, too many creatures in it LOL, so I just dip my toes in. Your fun fun fun t-shirt is so perfect for the beach photo!

My husband was stung by a jellyfish when we were in Myrtle beach. I tend to stick mostly to just my feet/ ankles in the water. I prefer walking the beach at sunrise and sunset than to sitting on the actual beach all day and swimming in the water. I don’t like to swim anywhere I can’t see my feet and what’s swimming with me.

Exactly! My favorite are both of those times too.

I love the summery feel of this beautiful place <3 Hopefully that someday soon we won't be stuck at home anymore and be able to travel to the beach <3

I think any beach is a nice escape. It always seems so serene with the water and sand. Except for the jellyfish of course, LOL

Beautiful! I love the beach, no matter where it is located. But my favorite beach so far is in Hollywood, FL where my husband and I lived for a couple of months. (We thought he was being transferred, but American Airlines ended up keeping him in Los Angeles.) I grew up on the west coast. The Pacific Ocean is cold. It was so much fun to play in the Atlantic, which was so warm.

I went once to Malibu beach (and got a really bad sunburn on an overcast day) but mostly we have been on the Gulf or Atlantic side. Well and the Meditarrenean. That actually would be my favorite beach: the Costa Brava in Spain.

Mireille, how fun! I am not much of a fan of swimming in the ocean either, but I do love to watch the waves and dip my toes in the surf. And that jellyfish photo just reminded me of a time when I was a kid. We would go to the Jersey shore every summer. And one summer, I was about 12, I scooped up a jellyfish, ran up behind my sister, and plopped it right down the back of her bikini bottoms! I got is soooooooo much trouble! I still maintain that she deserved it though! Thanks for linking with me.

I can’t believe you did that to your sister! That had me laughing!
