Kimono Dress 3 Ways Inspired by This Blonde Shopping Bag

Last year, I saw Shelly from The Queen In Between share a full length kimono paired with a pair of denim shorts (here is the post) and I have been wanting to find one since then.

Then recently, KellyAnn from This Blonde Shopping Bag shared this dress as a kimono and dress and I was sold! The dress promptly sold out in blue but the linked color (wine color) was a better addition for my closet anyways.

Blue floral duster

So on the day I wore the outfit , I decided I could come up with a couple more ideas to style the kimono.

Denim shorts and Red Top

This is my favorite way to wear it, possibly because these short fit me better than the white ones and my black dress is a little tight. The red also makes a pretty contrast to the duster and I really have been loving my little straw tote. I think the tote was cheaper when I bought it but it is holding well and love the drawstring at the top so nothing falls out. I wore this outfit thrifting with my mom (I will be sharing those finds on the blog soon!).

Dress over a Dress

This idea comes from Jodie from JTouch of Style. My mom just returned this dress to me that is too large for her but a little tight on me (so I probably will try to find different ways to wear it). I tought this would be the perfect time to try Jodie’s idea. I like the idea and might try it again with another dress or I just might need to start doing some crunches! I enjoy food too much to be too strict about it but I would like to focus on strengthening my core and flatten the muffin top! I actually started this past Thursday with some home workouts and it feels great to do some exercise that I think will make a difference.

Monochromatic Base

I do not like this second picture much again because the midrise cut of the shorts emphasize my muffin top but still wanted to share it because of the idea works. Might not be the most flattering on me right now but I do like the look. Maybe a v-neck white tee would be better and a contrasting belt? The good thing about taking pictures of outfits is that they can really help you tweak an outfit and help you figure out what work or doesn’t work.

I really like this duster/dress/kimono. I ordered a small at first but it was really tight in the shoulders so I exchanged it for a medium. I do not plan to wear it as a dress (it would probably be tight in the chest) but think it would also look cute open and belted over similar outfits as above.

On an aside, do you like my pictures better in this size? Large vs full size (the last one is a little larger because I cropped it and choice were either small or full size)? Let me know, thanks!
