White for Mother’s Day: May Sunday Showcase and Link Up

This month for Mother’s Day and our May showcase, Ada and I are sharing some white sundress! While Ada had several white dress in her closet, I had only one that I pull out about once a year or so so I went searching for a new one or two. I found one while thrifting and this one while web searching. I think I will be wearing both several times this year and for years to come.

I just added two white dresses to my closet, a shorter halter neck thrifted dress and this flowy maxi sundress from Target. I really enjoy how fresh and bright white is and used to have a white skirt that I wore until it wasn’t white anymore. This dress had come in and out of stock over the past few weeks and I definitely recommend sizing down. White is such a nice versatile color and really not that difficult to keep clean, at least I usually can keep my white pants and dresses white for several years.

I am not sure which way I like this dress the best. I wore it belted and loose. I am wearing a size small and could have sized down one more but I do like the loose fit even though it might not be the most flattering look. It give me feelings of the Sound of Music which gave to the following sequence of pictures.

What I like about a white sundress is that it can be styled in a multitude of ways: different types of belts, different toppers and accessories and different shoes.

I choose my leopard earrings and flat sandals and a white wrap bracelet. I thought the wildflower field was a perfect backdrop for this type of dress. I am actually wearing it today too for our Pascha (Easter) afternoon service with my kakhi short sleeve jacket I just rediscovered in my closet.

Adventures in blogging: my sons and I headed down this ditch/path so I could switch outfits and photograph my outfit for Ada’s birthday blog post. First time I have changed in the wild!

There are several things that I like about this dress, one of them being the pockets and how the straps are adjustable. I did wear a slip under it even though the dress is fully lined. My preference is still a dress that is fitted at the waist but I think it is fun to explore different styles and to not always wear the same thing.

We will most likely have two Mother’s Day celebration: I invited my mom, dad and brother for next Saturday and we will grill out and hopefully eat outside as weather permits. Then the next day, my husband’s siblings will probably stop by to celebrate with his mom. I have been trying to let them plan it for the last couple of years as it is always assumed that I will plan everything! Sharing responsibilities is part of being a grown up! I need to think of a gift for both moms and it will probably will have to do with plants! Zinnia seed planting is going to be in my future.

This month I chose Jennifer from Curated by Jennifer as the feature! I love Jennifer classy style, her search for substainable fashion and her love for all French things including style. Despite having grown up in France, I don’t think my style is French but I do love the timelessness of many French fashion trends. I think Jennifer embodies that French style!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommas out there and fur mamas too! Now please join us for the Sunday Showcase Link Up!

I love the dress both belted and unbelted. I think that’s the fabulous part…there isn’t only one right way to wear it.
And white dresses are so perfect for the summer…I purged quite a few but may have to restock soon!!

As much as I love white I tend to shy away from owning much white as it’s not real easy to keep clean and I do find that so many white outfits for summer are so thin and see through that I don’t feel comfortable wearing them. That said I just love that dress and I think it looks great on you styled both ways.

It definitely takes some trial and error as far as see throughness goes but I do like white.

What a cute white dress! I love white on others but as shorts or just a tee I can’t always keep it clean between the dog, the boys and my clumsy self so a white dress is something I don’t think I’ll ever pull off – I got mine dirty on my wedding day even, haha!

It does look so good on you though 🙂
Thanks for the link up 🙂

Hope that you had a good weekend 🙂 It’s a relaxing long weekend for us!

That’s funny about your wedding day. I don’t think I ate much on mine which was probably a good thing since it was lasagna! I usually don’t have much of a problem not getting all dirty.

These photos are so pretty Mireille!!! I love the white dress and how you styled it with that fun bag. What a beautiful backdrop, and the twirling pics are the cutest!

I ended up really liking the way I wore it today at church, it will it on my insta grid one of these day . Thanks, Grace!

Thanks, Kathrine! I tried it with a thin white belt too and probably wear it that way next.

You are welcome, Jennifer! Those fields at the Indian Mounds are great for pictures as the paths are right in front of then,

I love this dress on you so much!! I too can’t decide which way I like it more! I’m almost leaning towards no belt but then the belted version looks just as fabulous and just gives a little different vibe. The straw bag is so perfect for it!

I think flowers are the perfect Mother’s Day gift, doesn’t break the bank and everyone loves flowers. Personally I always love to give and receive potted flowers that will be enjoyed all summer long, or even those I can plant and enjoy over the years!

    Thanks for the linkup!

I wore it again with no belt but with a topper this past Sunday and it was nice that way too.

Oh MIreille the white dress is beautiful- love it so much and this pic of you in this amazing scenery- you look gorgeous! Ada too! Again, Happy Easter xx

  • Sheila (of Ephemera)

I love this white dress, Mireille! It’s so pretty and perfectly summery, and looks good both belted and loose (good for really hot days!). I have had white dresses in the past, but mostly I prefer a white skirt for this look. Thanks so much for the link-party!

I used to have a peasant white maxi skirt and never replaced it. Need to keep an eye out for one.

It was a lot of fun taking these pictures! Thankful for my son! I wore it again this past Sunday and I am sure it will be a repeat this summer.

    • mimifce

I have a couple now and I like how any topper looks nice with them and any belt. I wasn’t sure about how this one was flowy but it is so comfortable, I am glad I got it.

  • Suzy

You both look absolutely gorgeous! I love the white dresses on you both. Your photos and the settings are just stunning!

Thanks, Suzy! This has become my favorite place for taking pics and it is only 3 minutes from my house.

Love how you’ve shown the dress belted and unbelted. Nice accessories particularly the cute straw bag. Makes me feel summer is coming! (Quite slowly in the UK…). Thanks for linking.

    • mimifce

Thanks, Gail. It has been a little chilly the last couple of days but yes, summer is coming!

What a sensational new look to the blog!! Love the watercolor portrait of you. So much fun.

Your white dress was a great find. I prefer things to be fitted at the waist because I am pretty top-heavy. This dress looks dressier with the belt but so comfy and cute without. Just bought some sandals similar to yours. And that bag is divine. Such a great way to add color. Who takes your pics? I am going to cry if it is your hubs. Mine is so uncooperative.

    • mimifce

You made me laugh! I am the same way with dress without a waist: I typically do not like them. As far as my pictures it is mostly my 14 year old and my 10 year old who take them (hubby has never taken one and probably has never looked at the blog lol!)
