Picnic by the River

On my birthday weekend in Ellijay, GA we spent a few hours by the river having a picnic, relaxing and jumping in the river. The subdivision we were staying at was very large and included a campground by a river. My son and I walked down and discovered how pretty the area would be for lunch and after changing into clothes that would work for our activities, we returned with food and the rest of the gang.

This was the sign by the entrance. This area was well maintained with sites for camping or RVs hookups and a large bathroom/shower area. There was a playground and some picnic areas too. Crossing the bridge took you to a pool (which you had to pay to use).

We had brought our bathing suits with us so some of us decided to use the swinging rope to jump in the water. The river was not super deep so it was kind of fun even though my husband and I hurt a finger with our jumping.

It was a great place for pictures and the boys help take my pictures and wanted their picture taken too.

This was a great outfit for a picnic despite some bugs flying around. Wore my very old Keen sandals which are perfect when you plan to get wet as they dry quickly and keep your feet from getting hurt by rocks and such. Target shorts from last year and a new tee. I have come to the realization that I really don’t wear graphic tees unless they are white, black or grey. So from now on, I will stick to those! Otherwise they just sit in my closet and I end up using them as night shirts.

The scenery was very serene and it was not busy. We really had the area to ourselves for the most part. We did throw the football in the river a couple of times and my husband had to jump in to rescue it.

I wouldn’t mind retiring in the North Georgia mountains. It is cooler than Atlanta, there are many rivers and lakes and the mountains are really pretty. It is a nice area and not too far from larger cities.

I wish I was brave enough to climb trees: there were a few that went somewhat over the river. I am always afraid of falling and do not like heights. I guess I am not 15 anymore, lol!

See, wouldn’t it be cool to climb along that part of the trunk that goes over the river? And just sit up there somewhere? My hubby does that kind of thing but not me.

I love eating outdoors and now that the weather is not as hot, I am taking every advantage to eat outdoors. Flies and bees should disappear soon so it will be more pleasant to eat outside. One of our best investment this past year was updating our outdoor furniture: it sure is nice to have comfortable and good looking patio furniture.

Do you enjoy eating al fresco? What is your favorite season to eat outdoors? Mine are spring and fall.

A bientĂ´t!
