Picnic by the River
On my birthday weekend in Ellijay, GA we spent a few hours by the river having a picnic, relaxing and jumping in the river. The subdivision we were staying at was very large and included a campground by a river. My son and I walked down and discovered how pretty the area would be for lunch and after changing into clothes that would work for our activities, we returned with food and the rest of the gang.
This was the sign by the entrance. This area was well maintained with sites for camping or RVs hookups and a large bathroom/shower area. There was a playground and some picnic areas too. Crossing the bridge took you to a pool (which you had to pay to use).
We had brought our bathing suits with us so some of us decided to use the swinging rope to jump in the water. The river was not super deep so it was kind of fun even though my husband and I hurt a finger with our jumping.
It was a great place for pictures and the boys help take my pictures and wanted their picture taken too.
This was a great outfit for a picnic despite some bugs flying around. Wore my very old Keen sandals which are perfect when you plan to get wet as they dry quickly and keep your feet from getting hurt by rocks and such. Target shorts from last year and a new tee. I have come to the realization that I really don’t wear graphic tees unless they are white, black or grey. So from now on, I will stick to those! Otherwise they just sit in my closet and I end up using them as night shirts.
The scenery was very serene and it was not busy. We really had the area to ourselves for the most part. We did throw the football in the river a couple of times and my husband had to jump in to rescue it.
I wouldn’t mind retiring in the North Georgia mountains. It is cooler than Atlanta, there are many rivers and lakes and the mountains are really pretty. It is a nice area and not too far from larger cities.
I wish I was brave enough to climb trees: there were a few that went somewhat over the river. I am always afraid of falling and do not like heights. I guess I am not 15 anymore, lol!
See, wouldn’t it be cool to climb along that part of the trunk that goes over the river? And just sit up there somewhere? My hubby does that kind of thing but not me.
I love eating outdoors and now that the weather is not as hot, I am taking every advantage to eat outdoors. Flies and bees should disappear soon so it will be more pleasant to eat outside. One of our best investment this past year was updating our outdoor furniture: it sure is nice to have comfortable and good looking patio furniture.
Do you enjoy eating al fresco? What is your favorite season to eat outdoors? Mine are spring and fall.
A bientôt!

I love anything with water involved.

How gorgeous it is there! Yes I love to eat outside, preferably in summer. It can’t be warm enough for me.

We were so happy to find this spot! Very picturesque.

I’ve realized I don’t wear graphic tees at all. That looks like such a beautiful place to have a picnic.

I am kind of taking notes as I am getting rid of stuff: why I bought something (saw it on somebody, settling for it) and it doesn’t work. I am also paying attention to what I love and why. It was a perfect place for a picnic apart from the mosquitoes =)

Thanks, Belen! I think I will enjoy picnics even more as it cools off. We are planning a picnic at a winery this weekend with my parents and my brother and family. Hopefully it won’t be too hot!

What a fabulous way to spend the day Mireille!!!
I can’t believe you would jump into that water and not climb the tree. I would be just the opposite!!

That’s a good point Jodie! But I think it has to do with heights: don’t especially like them but the rop was not high up above the water and the water not super deep.

Beautiful scenery and some pretty great legs, too!! I was hoping for photos of you guys swinging into the watre from the rope. I remember doing that in Panama before I knew I was pregnant with my first daughter. Loved it. And thank goodness, baby numero uno was fine!!
My sister and her husband visit her in-laws cabin in norther Georgia and they love it there. The property is going on the market and they are torn about maybe buying it but already have land on a lake in Texas. Hope you can find the perfect spot for retirement when the time comes.

Well, I didn’t want to share pics of the guys without their permission and me on that swing was quite unattractive: I saw myself in the video and realize while I know how to pose for a blog pic, me in a bathing suit on a rope swing was a shock to my system and I need to exercise more!

What a picturesque spot!
Love your outfit – this would be so perfect to wear all year round in our tropical country.
Happy Thursday!

For sure! Enjoy the rest of your week!

This looks like a wonderful area for a picnic! I’m sure your sons had a good time exploring nature. I like to picnic in the fall as it is my favorite season and looks beautiful in Colorado.

They do have fun even though they often complain about our outings until we get there.

Love river picnics and Ellijay! Such a beautiful part of GA especially during the fall time….which reminds me I need to go there asap to one of the apple farms!

Yes! There is something about eating by water that I love! Yes! We go to R&A orchards and this year they had zinnias to pick as some of the trees did not produce this year because of a frost last year.

This looks like a perfect area for a picnic! Such a pretty scenery all around! I love picking up something “to go” and eating somewhere outdoors, but we rarely do so at home because nobody want to help take stuff outside LOL But I do enjoy my morning coffee out on the patio on the weekends.
Great outfit btw, those shorts are such a good lengths!

That is funny! My boys are kind of lazy with helping but at the house, they will usually carry their plate out and otherwise I pack it all up and put the backpack on my son’t back!

That looks like fun! it’s good you found that spot so you could enjoy it with the family! 🙂 I wouldn’t have been brave enough to climb the trees over the river either, haha! Your casual shorts and tee outfit is just perfect for this.
Hope your week is going well and you have a nice weekend ahead of you 🙂

It’s really nice and not a bad drive for us. We should go more often to Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

I love to eat outside, but my daughter hates it… SOOO… we can never sit outside! She doesn’t like the heat, bugs, etc. Maybe when it cools off a bit more and the bugs disapear I can talk her into it. Oh, what a beautiful area with the mountains and all the trees. I bet it’ll be so pretty when the leaves start to turn colors.

Oh, Mireille, I would definitely want to retire there, too! Unless there are lots of snakes…then, count me out! Seriously, you look like you’re having an absolutely fabulous time and looking pretty amazing, too! I cannot remember the last time we did something like this with our kids (they’re in their 30’s and 40’s now so it would take some kind of hard remembering).

I like your casual/active outfit and those fun blue shoes! This looks like such a cute spot – it reminds me a lot of the walkway along the Boise River near my house. I miss it so much, especially during the fall time when all the leaves along the river change color!

The Keen shoes have been worth every penny for outings and the pop of color is fun.
