Atlanta Botanical Gardens: Favorite Spots
When I uploaded the pictures for my Atlanta Botanical Gardens posts, I realized that I wanted to separate them in a couple more posts as I wanted you to soak the beauty in and not be overwhelmed my too many pictures. This post is focusing on different areas of the gardens that inspired me with their beauty or that the boys and I particularly enjoyed.
This might be one of the most known features of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It was part of a large exhibition some years ago and the “Earth Goddess” is usually covered by many annuals. It is in located in the Cascade Gardens which you reach by the canopy walk. You can see more pictures from the gardens in my Mother’s Day fashion post here.
In the same area of the gardens (it did take us a few wrong turn to get to it), you can admire the new Chihuli yellow icicle sculpture. I actually thought this was a live plant from afar but no, it is a very impressive glass sculpture!
The boys enjoyed this little stream aquaduc: they would throw in a leaf from the bridge and watch it go down the water path. This was another newer addition to the gardens we had not seen before.
This Chihuly glass sculpture has been atop the fountain since 2004. I have pictures of my oldest here when he was just a few years old. I love the colors in this piece.
Another area we enjoyed was the children’s gardens. We did not stay here too long since we wanted to see as much as we could during our visit and there were quite a few children (families and school groups) since it was Earth day which is a Friday which is always a busier day.
Even the bathrooms were aesthetically pleasing. I loved the beautiful butterflies!
The children’s area has several sculptures, a pond and waterfall, a couple playgrounds and some play areas. The boys were particularly entranced by the bee hive: this has been in the gardens for quite a few years as I remember it from past visits. They have changed its location so now you can see the bees coming in and out from the back.
It was really neat to see the bees at work.
As I mentioned last week, I really am considering getting a family membership at the end of summer. I would love to see the different flower exhibits throughout the seasons as well as some of the larger exhibitions like the origami one that just opened (have a peek in this post).
A bientôt!

I guess there are Chihuly pieces everywhere. Aren’t they just so amazing? I love how they mirror the vibe of the area too.
And those bathrooms are the bomb.

The Earth Goddess is gorgeous. I can imagine with annuals all over here is breathtaking! I can stand and watch bees for hours. They are so interesting, aren’t they? We had a beekeeper come and speak to our women’s group at church one Saturday. It was fascinating! I do hope you get your membership. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

I am sure we will get the membership. I more than likely will wait till after summer though since the heat is not fun here with the humidity.

The sculptures are all so beautiful! I love the blue stained glass one with the fountain. I bet seeing the bees work like that is really neat!

It was wild to watch but nice too since there was not worries about getting stung.

These are fantastic botanical gardens, the sculptures add a lot of drama and of course great photo opportunities. Thanks for linking.

Yes! I agree all the different pieces of art create more dimension and interest especially for the months where there are less blooms.
