Ruffled Skirt: Shopping my Closet for a New Look
One of the things I have enjoyed from this Skirt in July Challenge is that it has helped me create new outfits with what I already have in my closet. I did buy a skort (Target) and a button front skirt (thrifted) for it but otherwise, I looked through my closet to find skirts for each category and tried to create a new outfit that I had neither worn on the blog nor in a daily outfit.
Before I forget, I want to thank my 11 year old for attempting to take all of the pictures for this post. Attempt because as he was going to take my third picture, he got stung by a bee/wasp twice! I think the nest had been disturbed just minutes earlier by the lady who was cleaning this library courtyard and when we got next to this one tree, they struck out.
After getting some ice and benadryl cream from one of the library ladies to give him relief, his 8 year old brother became my photographer. I told my older son we needed to give him hazardous pay so he got paid double for the pictures he took.
A ruffle is defined as a strip of lace or material that is gathered as an ornamental frill. This skirt has some very small ruffles on the middle seam. I am not one for big ruffles but I do have several skirts that have ruffles on a hem on section of the garment. Everything I am wearing is 2 to more years old, the shirt and sandals were from Target while the skirt is from Amazon.
I have never worn this skirt with stripes and I really like the combination. I have worn navy, and white with this skirt I believe. I added bracelets with pearls as well as river pearl earrings that were a birthday present years ago. My purse is current, you can order it here from IdeasValyen. It is very well made and very solid. I love its rigidity and the space inside: enough for a wallet, keys, chapstick and phone. It’s a perfect summer purse!
So while I cannot say that no kids were harmed in these blog pictures, the boys did a wonderful job. I am very thankful for their willingness to be my underpaid photographers. They are patient as it sometimes takes 2 to 3 times to take a picture where my eyes are open and my back straight and they are getting better every week.
I think this might me my favorite skirt of Ada’s! I cannot wait to read her post and see where she found it! I might like little ruffles but I like these big ruffles!
A bientôt!

Oh no! Your poor son! You do look fabulous though and he did a great job with the photos he took before getting stung. Good thing you brought back-up support! LOL.

Yes, I don’t like getting stung. Thankfully it doesn’t happen too often.

What a trooper! Your son did such a great job on these photos and I love that both of your boys are willing to help with them. I adore ruffle skirts. They are so chic and add a feminine fun flair to any outfit. The stripes also work really well with it. Nice job on this look!

They like getting paid for their work so it works for all of us.

Ahhh, your poor son. What a trooper.
This look is A+ Mireille. Of course I adore the purse but the print mixing is spot on (or should I say stripe on? Haha)
XOXO

Very pretty skirt and love how it co-ordinates with the sandals. Sorry to hear about the wasp/bee stings! Every profession has its hazards. Your boys take great pictures! Thanks for linking.

I’ve been amazed by your collection of lovely skirts and this one is a corker! This challenge has got you to experiment and actually WEAR all to your skirts, what a clever exercise. How many skirts DO you have?!

I did count this morning: 29 or 30! Way more than I thought but I do know that 3/4 of them were thrifted and about half are 5 years or more so that makes me feel better about that number.
